Announcement    “UP-CYCLING, WHEN WASTE BECOMES ART” BY CARLOS PLAZA

The idea behind this project is to reuse discarded objects or material in such a way as to create a new product of higher quality or value than the original. This work seeks to transform waste into works of art. The concept, therefore, goes beyond the conventional recycling of materials by creating objects that exceed the economic, cultural and social value of the original product. My main goal with this project is to help our beloved planet to reduce the carbon footprint from food container materials like plastic and styrofoam.

La idea detrás de este proyecto es reutilizar objetos o materiales desechados de tal manera que se cree un nuevo producto de mayor calidad o valor que el original. Este trabajo busca transformar, lo que normalmente llamamos ‘basura’, en obras de arte. El concepto, por tanto, va más allá del reciclaje convencional de materiales, creando objetos que superan el valor económico, cultural y social del producto original. Mi objetivo principal con este proyecto es ayudar a nuestro amado planeta a reducir la huella de carbono de los materiales de los envases de alimentos como el plástico y la espuma de poliestireno.
