Fulfilling hobby to retirement income.
I began quilting in 2010, making table runners for myself for the holidays. I was soon "addicted" and progressed to lap quilts to give as gifts. My daughter-in-law introduced me to ETSY early in 2011 and I opened my own ETSY shop in October of that year. Although I was making sales, several extenuating factors influenced me to close the shop again in 2012.
I retired about 1 1/2 years ago and am now feeling the need to be more creative and productive. My fabric "stash" is threatening to take over the closet, so I decided to reopen my ETSY shop. I plan to take the shop in a new direction, capitalizing on my ability to choose fabrics and arrange them in eye-catching quilt designs. I use traditional quilt designs such as four-patch and rail fence, and create my own patterns, with an occasional simple bargello thrown in for fun. If you, or someone you know, prefers the actual quilting process to the design process, visit my shop periodically and choose from one of my unfinished quilt tops.
I have sewn all my adult life. Two years ago I started working part-time at JoAnn Fabrics and Crafts. Surrounded by all that beautiful fabric, it wasn't long until I tried my hand at quilting. I was hooked after just a couple of table runners.
