Thank you for visiting Remnants By Carrie!

I love old things! I always have which led to a history major in college. In order to be able to stay home with my children, I have now turned that love into a small little business!

One thing I love to do with old things is to bring life back into items that may have lived past their original use. I am instantly drawn to vintage fabrics, linens and notions. I love taking these items and re-purposing them into something for today. I also like making things from remnants of fabric and yarn and making something with them, proving that every little thing is useful.

I also love scouring garage sales, estate sales and thrift stores looking for vintage items that appeal to me. I love then passing them on to someone to love them and make them a part of their lives.

In this little shop you will find many of the treasures I find on my vintage hunts. Currently, I sell my handmades at craft shows around my home. I regularly post what comes out of my studio on my Facebook page: remnants by carrie. If there is anything there you would like to see added to my Etsy shop just let me know!

Love these. They will make for a perfect bday gift for my fiance. I'm hoping he will sport them with his groom suit. :)

About

A Lover Of History From Way Back!

I was one of those children who never complained about going to a museum. In fact, I asked to go! I have always loved history, particularly the history of domestic life. I love living history farms where I can see people using items from the past to create something beautiful and useful, whether it be a plow share or an apple pie. This love led me to a double major in college of history and anthropology. Seemed quite fitting for me. However, finding a job that fit those loves proved much more difficult. After years in retail and advertising I left the business world and came home to be with my family. With two growing boys, there is always plenty to do, from laundry to rides to baseball. My business venture grew from this want and need to be at home and the continued presence of a need for me to still contribute financially. Taking into account that my in-laws are antiques dealers and my mom is a retired home economics teacher added to my love of treasures and hand crafting, I decided to sell items that take I find at garage and estate sales as well as make bags and other goodies with my hands, whether it be sewing or knitting.

In my free time, when I am not creating or finding the next treasure, I love to read, garden, preserve, sometimes cook, bake, camp and spend lots of time with my family!

I am having so much fun and can't see what is around the next turn in this adventure!

I am a mom and wife first and foremost and this little business adventure is my attempt at being home for my family yet still contributing financially. I have always loved history and love to create. This shop is a great blending of these two!

I usually ship on Tuesday's and Thursday's. I ship all orders through USPS. I also believe in the reduce, reuse, recycle philosophy so often you will find me reusing packing materials if I am able.
