CarrieTown--it's not your parent's town...well it was their town, but it's been remade into something else

Although CarrieTown is technically located in Boise, Idaho, I like to think it is a state of mind that goes beyond geographical boundaries. CarrieTown is the creative outlet for me, Carrie Applegate--office worker by day, fancy-dancy artiste by night!

I started making jewelry in 2000 after I saw a gorgeous necklace in Paris. "Surely it can't be too difficult," I told myself as I went on the first of many, many trips to the bead store.

I started making jewelry at my coffee table, keeping my tools & supplies in a lunchbox. Which then overflowed to a couple of lunch boxes, an old Samsonite suitcase and took over my 1950's kitchen table. Then I had to take over the guest bedroom. When that was completely overflowing with craft supplies, I started looking for a new house!

I was lucky enough to find an adorable 1940's bungalow with a fenced in yard for my dog, Bobby and a separate 2-car garage. My handy parents helped me insulate and drywall half the garage, and CarrieTown finally had an official home!

Once I had my own studio, I really started exploring new materials to create with--vintage paper scraps, postcards, pin-ups, sheet music, and lots & lots of old books. I started creating little jewelry collages to incorporate into my beading, but felt limited by the tiny size. I then started making my cheeky sarcastic collages using the same old materials and adding sarcastic quotes and zingers.

I also tried to take the old-to-new mentality to my jewelry as well. I scour estate auctions and sales for old treasures that can be remade into new heirlooms.

Your jewelry order will be shipped out in a CarrieTown giftbox, lovely enough to gift to others or just yourself. All of my treasures are handmade in my sunny Boise studio.

Whenever possible, I like to give new life to the everyday ephemeral elements of life. Old papers, ticket stubs, illustrations, matchbooks can all have a new story to tell.

Returns and exchanges
I want nothing more than for you to be happy with your purchase. If you are unsatisfied for any reason, you can return the unused, unaltered item to me for a full refund of the purchase price, less shipping. You are responsible for return charges. Once the item is received in satisfactory condition, I will issue a refund via PayPal.
For convenience, I only accept PayPal through Etsy, and you can pay with a credit card even if you don't have a PayPal account. Most payments through PayPal are instant, except eChecks, which take at minimum, 4 business days to clear. I will not ship an item without a fully cleared payment first, no exceptions.
If you absolutely can not pay via PayPal, let me know and we can work something else out. I will accept personal checks and money orders by request only, and again, will only ship after said payment has cleared.

Starting 2012 I will also be accepting credit card payments through Google Checkout. Email me and I will send you an invoice through Google Checkout as this functionality is not integrated into Etsy yet.

Please check your address on both your Etsy & PayPal account. If they do not match, I will contact you for confirmation which may slow processing.
I use padded envelopes to protect your package. Jewelry orders are first wrapped in tissue paper, then placed in a CarrieTown gift box, tied with ribbon, then placed in a padded envelope.

For domestic orders I ship my mini canvases individually because strangely enough, it is cheaper to ship them one at a time, rather than in one big package. International orders are combined to save on shipping. If you order multiples, they will each arrive in a padded envelope and mailed at the same time.

I ship via USPS First Class & Priority mail, and all over the world. I will ship via other methods upon request. Just leave a note in the comments when you make your purchase and I will respond via email with more info. I will combine your order for cost-effective shipping.

Local customers can arrange pick-up from my Boise studio if preferable. Just make a note of that in the 'notes to seller' section and I will refund your shipping costs.

I can send an order directly to the gift recipient to make your busy life easier. Just specify this in the ordering instructions so I don't include an invoice listing the purchase price. I will include a CarrieTown postcard with a your personal message at no additional cost if requested.
Additional policies and FAQs
Since most of my pieces are one-of-a-kind, I don't generally offer wholesale prices. I often reuse favorite quotes or expressions, but the individual items are unique.

If you see images/quotes on collages or pendants but aren't crazy about the color, please convo me and I would be happy to make you a custom piece.
