Brass Bird Designs

My name is Ashley. I'm 24 years old. And in March of 2011, I spent most of my time staring at a blank document in Microsoft Word, desperately willing my master's thesis to write itself. I purchased a sewing machine on an impulse to fill my time with something (anything!) other than writing. The sewing machine arrived two days later, and I took it out of the box, and set it on my desk. I wanted to make a dress.

And then I realized I knew nothing about sewing, fabric, thread, garment construction or even how to put the darn thing together.

But in just a little over a year, my talent and passion for sewing have grown tremendously. (And yes, I finished the thesis!). I'm continuing to learn and challenge myself every day, and two months ago I decided to take the leap and go at this full time.

My main goal with Brass Bird Designs is to bring more creativity and beauty to the world. This is my second shop, which I've opened to help accomplish these goals, while simultaneously raising funds for the American Cancer Society. My inspiration stems from my wonderful Aunt Mary Ann, who passed away from cancer in 2007. This disease has taken too many people from life, and I want to use my abilities to give back and find a cure.

I want to one day open my own winery/agro-tourism farm, and own alpacas galore. My master's degree is in city planning, and I love all things design, planning, architecture, sustainability, and food. I've always had a knack for creative writing as well, and since I made the decision to take some time off and redirect my life's focus, I've started working on a novel!

This is my life, my business, and my creativity all intertwined, and I work hard every day to be successful in this journey.

For payment, I accept paypal, credit/debit cards, and etsy gift cards. I will accept cancellations of your within 24 hours.

Customers in the State of New York: Please contact me before you purchase the item (include your shipping address!), so that I may create a custom listing that accounts for your sales tax. I cannot ship to customers in New York unless sales tax is charged. I'm happy to work with you through this process!
As some items are made to order, and some are ready to ship, please check the listing for specific shipping time frames. You will be notified when your item has shipped.

DOMESTIC SHIPPING, AND APO/FPOs: All packages are shipped via USPS with tracking. Heavier items will be shipped priority mail, and lighter items will be shipped via first class mail. Tracking information is included, except to APO/FPOs. For domestic sales, if you have not received your package within two weeks after it's been shipped, please contact me. For overseas shipping, allow up to one month.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: At this time I can only ship to Canada. I will not provide delivery confirmation services for international shipping, but I will purchase a certificate of mailing, included in your shipping fee to verify that your purchase has been shipped.

For digital files, I will email them to you within 24-48 hours.
Refunds and Exchanges
All unused items, in the same condition they were received, are eligible for a refund within 21 days of receipt. You may ship the item back to me at your cost, and providing the item is able to be resold, I will refund your money.

If your product is defective in some way, please contact me to discuss refunds and exchanges! I'm happy to work with you, and want all my customers to be satisfied customers. I stand by my work and will gladly repair any defective merchandise within 30 days of receipt at no cost to you, and any time beyond that for the cost of shipping.

If you accidentally caused damage to your product and would like it to be repaired I am also happy to do this at any time as well! Please contact me to make arrangements and discuss repair fees.

For digital products, I don't offer refunds, however all my digital products include at least one revision free of charge to ensure you're satisfied with the product.
Additional policies and FAQs
Custom orders are welcomed and encouraged! Just about every item listed can be made in a different fabric or size, please contact me! If for any reason you are unsatisfied with your purchase, please return it according to my refund policy. I am able to embroider any made to order items (these are generally items with a shipping time of 3-5 business days) with a name or monogram.

I am happy to do group orders for things like bridal party gifts, etc. I offer an 18% discount on group orders of three (3) of the same item or more. All group orders are shipped together via USPS flat rate priority mail, so shipping costs will be lower as well. Please contact me!
