About CarylsCreations
Getting Back to the fun of Creative Sewing.
Caryl’s Creation a Work in Progress
Hi from Caryl Anne Rosten (Carylanne). I am a work in progress, started sewing in 1964, and continued to teach myself fashion techniques while stitching up everything my family requested. Fabric stashes were starting to develop into stacks for different family members with pattern sleeves at the ready. I attended my one and only quilt lesson in February 1993 as a favor to my sister, as she wanted me to help her through the design and production of a lap quilt for her son's graduation. I was hooked when less than 6 months I had finished my quilt. I wear this quilt on my bed every day, even though I chose to use Christmas fabrics from my apron fabric stash.
In 2005 I was able to purchase a dream machine, second hand; my Janome 10001 and I have welcomed the world of machine embroidery. Not only is my sewing room packed with quilt pattern books, beautiful fabrics, rulers & notions, the room has taken on the look of a thread convention display. I managed to leave the embroidery alone in 2006 long enough to design and finish 7 quilts, however I have almost stopped piecing so that I could explore the embroidery world further. My first craft sewing love was purse and totes construction which has taken me a long way, now with the pieced totes and embroiders designs (eek! 50,000 +) I have begun a new quest to marry all my passions.
I have a tendency to have more than one project on my work tables at a time. Getting excited over a new article, pattern or technique, in each new magazine, has me replacing yesterday with today. I am learning to finish one UFP before starting anew. . I am sure it is not a new concept to anyone who is creative to have more than a few things that we just can't live without doing NOW. And for just that reason I’ve become much more organized out of pure desperation & while I clean up all cutting tables send spools of color to their home base, I vacuum and dust the room, & clean the machines. OK now I walk away & close the door, and low and behold my room is ready to work again,
Happy threading in whatever your passion is today. Tomorrow may bring light from another tunnel. Hum I can’t wait.
