Shop policies
Wood is a beautiful, durable medium, but like all quality jewelry, some care is required:
- Avoid exposure to water. Take rings off when washing your hands, pop the plugs out when showering and you should definitely not wear the cuff links while scuba diving.
- If the color of the wood seems to be fading, apply a little oil. I like jojoba, especially for plugs. It's very similar to our bodies' natural oils. Mineral oil is also popular with woodworkers, but I've never used it.
- Wooden rings are durable, but not unbreakable. If your day job involves smashing concrete with your bare hands, you should save the ring for special occasions.
Many exotic woods have a potential for allergic reaction upon contact with skin. According to one study, only 2-5% of people will have sensitivities to the compounds found in wood. If you do experience adverse symptoms, remove the jewelry immediately.
