catawampus' Shop Announcement

Welcome to Catawampus Farm's Shop! We specialize in Maine raised Farm Fresh wools and mohair for spinners and felters and for knitters/crocheters we have lovely hand dyed yarns. Check out some of our new jumbo fingering/sock skeins, with 600-750 yards for that shawl you've been wanting to start or the friend with big feet! I put them in their own section to make them easy to find.

Catawampus Farm offers fine mohair, wool, handpainted yarns and spinning fibers. We are in central Maine, as you approach the western hills and raise our own naturally colored angora goats and Jacob sheep. Our mohair and wool is available in soft yarn blends, roving, batts and locks. Our farm yarn and roving is processed at a small local mill, using Maine-raised wool or recovered mill fibers for blending. We also carry carefully selected wool and alpaca from other small family farms in Maine, offering hand spinners premium "farm fresh" fibers. You can learn more about our animals and the farm on our website: www.catawampusfarm.com and on our "CatawampusFarmandFiber" Facebook page.

All non-mohair spinning fleeces and fibers are chosen for clean, soft and spinnable fiber. We love getting to know other farmers in Maine, supporting small family farms and finding lovely fiber to share with other fiber addicts! Our own mohair fleeces are hand-picked before and after washing for minimal vegetable matter. Our goats do live active, happy goat lives. If you find a little native Maine vegetable matter in our locks, we hope this will make you smile and picture our curly goats knee deep in clover.

Forget any old concepts you may have of itchy mohair. Fine mohair is so silky and soft! It gives yarn a lovely halo, sheen, softness and strength. When blended with wool, I think it makes a perfect yarn which is soft, light and warm. Spinning, knitting, weaving are all about fondling fiber, right? My own philosophy: "Life's too short for tiny needles and scratchy yarn!"

We do carry a few commercially producted yarns which are handpainted or kettle dyed here on the farm. "Special Delivery" yarns help support our Maine state affilitate of the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM) and the Political Action Committee of the ACNM. A portion of the profits from these yarns will be used to support midwifery care for women and infants in the state of Maine and in the United States.

Catawampus Farm is proud to be a contributor to the Phat Fiber Sample Boxes. Visit their site at www.phatfiber.com for more information on Phat Fiber and other independent fiber artists. Thanks for stopping by!

catawampus' Shop Policies

Welcome

Welcome to our farm shop. The animals and fiber are an important part of our lives and we love sharing them with others. We do work "off the farm" and like many of our customers we juggle, jobs, animals, family and other responsibilities. The times found to sit quietly with spinning, knitting and other fibery crafts are precious and we are happy to be chosen to share them with you.

Payment

Payment is through paypal, etsy or gift certificates. If you have a gift certificate, please select "other" as payment option and include your gift certificate code in notes to seller. Thanks.

Shipping

Orders will be shipped on Wednesdays and Saturdays (perhaps earlier, if I have a moment between my "real job" and the farm chores on other days of the week.)

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS: I'm always pleased when I get a request to send our products to another country. If you would like an order to ship outside of the US, please send a message and I will calculate shipping costs for your location. Thanks!

Refunds and Exchanges

We make every effort to send you high quality yarns and fiber. If for any reason you are not satisfied, please contact me so that I can refund or replace your wool or yarn as appropriate. Refunds or exchanges can be requested within 30 days of shipping, if the item you receive does not meet your expectations from the item description. Refunds do not include shipping.

Additional Policies and FAQs

Variations in color are a natural part of the handpainting/hand dyed process, and should be expected. Your monitor colors may vary from the actual color of the fiber or yarn.

I often have washed raw and fibers which are not listed in the shop. Feel free to send me a message, if there is something special you would like, I just might have it!
