The Birth
I started Cate & Levi in 2008 after my first son Levi was born. Although I graduated from law school and practiced corporate law for one year, "making" has always been my true calling. My mom is an avid crafter and my father a committed and successful small business owner. You may say I’m the perfect marriage of both!

As my wife and I awaited the birth of our first child, I noticed that there was a lack of one of a kind, responsibly made, and beautifully designed products for children. I decided to create a unique collection of products that would be intricately crafted and environmentally responsible. I started by designing a handful of stuffed animals made from upcycled sweaters. These quickly became our signature pieces distributed and collected around the world.

Responsibility
The Cate & Levi Collection is handmade at my studio in Toronto, Canada. Together with my talented production team, I oversee every aspect of this collection. All the materials are sourced as close to home as possible. This process cuts down on shipping and reduces our carbon footprint. Cate and Levi produces three distinct product lines: 1) One Of A Kind Reclaimed Wool Finished Products 2) DIY Wool Crafting Kits 3) Softy Polar Fleece Finished Products (Not One Of A Kind).

One Of A Kind Wool Products
No two Cate & Levi wool products will ever be the same. Each one is made from reclaimed wool whose colors and textures are individually selected. The wool comes from reclaimed sweaters. But rest assured, before we cut and sew the sweaters, they are industrially cleaned with an eco-friendly detergent and super-hot water – both for cleanliness and also so that the material felts (becomes thicker). Not only is this process environmentally responsible, but it ensures that each animal is truly a One Of A Kind creation never to be duplicated. Each item is as unique as the child who adopts it. The choice of reclaimed wool reduces demand for new materials that require both water and oil for production.

DIY Craft Kits
We love being makers and want to share our craft with YOU! When you choose the Cate and Levi DIY kits, your puppet or stuffed animal will come to life in your very own hands! The materials in our wool DIY kits are all One Of A Kind so that each will be as unique as the child that creates them. Our maker kits are perfect for anyone who loves crafts, plus they are great for building fine motor and problem solving skills. Each kit contains everything needed to complete the entire project. You just need to bring your own scissors.

Softy Collection
More recently, we have added a brand new product line made from Polar Fleece, which is a man-made material manufactured by the storied Maldon Mills Company in the USA. The items are then cut and sewn in our design studio in Toronto, Canada. Although considered a new material, it is made from mostly recycled plastic bottles. Unlike our wool products, our Softy Collection is NOT one of a kind. What you see in the image is exactly what you get. This is our softest line EVER!

My goal is for all of these items to leave the softest possible paw print on our planet.

Giving Back
It is important for me to set a good example for my children, to work in a highly creative and responsible fashion, and to produce long lasting items that can be today's plaything and tomorrow's keepsake. I am building a company my family can be proud of. A percentage of our profits will be donated to funds that help children in need.
