I create whimsical original designed clip art, paintings and fine art featuring animals and people.
I am a full time artist and I love it!.
I have five wonderful children and three grandchildren.
I studied traditional drawing and painting for years but found that elements of whimsy began to slip into my art in 2001. My brain did not accept this, wanting to study the masters and pursue a fine art path. However, my fingers... ten against 1, kept producing whimisical fine and folk art. Recently I began creating clip art, I call it designer clip art because each piece is designed by hand first then digitalized.
My full name is Catherine Darling Hostetter, but I sign my art with Catherine Darling (Cathy Darling) which is my maiden name. I feel it is more fitting for my whimisical creations, and my artistic nature was inherited from my greatgrandfather who excelled in stone sculptures and my mother who was an artist.
I live in Salt Lake City where I have lived all my life with the exception of a couple of jaunts to Colorado and Arizona.
