“Every painting is a love letter from me to you”

I opened my Etsy shop in 2007 after moving to New York from Los Angeles, but the real story of "Cathy Nichols, the Artist" began several years earlier when I pinned up Ghandi's quote, "become the change you seek from the world" next to a 4x4 foot canvas and tore up my applications to law school.

I had tried many "legitimate" professions -- scholar, teacher, PR professional -- before staring down that blank canvas in my living room. Yet I was still the same girl in the back of math class staring out the window daydreaming. Try as I may, I could not turn my eyes back to the lesson plan. So I gave myself a blank canvas and permission to fill it up with what I really wanted to see.

Since then, my paintings have become a place for me to restore the sense of wonder, love and freedom, I remembered from childhood. They are a place to daydream, and a space left open for magic. I like to use all kinds of “non-regulation” stuff in my paintings: fire¬¬¬-tempting beeswax cooked on a hotplate, torn paper, melted oil sticks and song lyrics. Growing up, my grandmother called me her "Sunshine Girl," and maybe this is why I can also never resist sprinkling in a few rhinestones at the last minute. Plus, let’s face it, glitter is fun.

My paintings are little packages of joy shipped out from me to you.

Payment

You can pay with Paypal or Direct Etsy Checkout. Either of these options allows you to use most major credit cards or echecks. Convo me if you have been too busy enjoying your life to figure out how to buy artwork online, and I will be happy to assist you. :)

Shipping

I know that the hardest thing about buying artwork online is waiting for it to arrive. I always ship your order right away, usually within 2 business days. I ship USPS first class mail, but if you need something in a hurry, I can certainly arrange to send it Priority or Express Mail for an additional fee.

Regarding international shipping: VAT and tariff fees are not included in the price of your item. This is because such fees are very unpredictably applied.

Additional policies and FAQs

Custom orders are lovingly created and will take more time to complete -- but I always work as quickly as possible to get your artwork completed and shipped to you.

Due to the replicable nature of digital downloads and digital classes, I cannot accept returns on these items.
