About

Crocheting my way through life.

Every summer as a kid, I spent a lot of time with my grandmother. She taught me many lessons, life skills, and family pastimes. When I was about 12, she taught me how to crochet. I picked up the hobby very easily, and soon I was crocheting baby blankets for impoverished mothers at a local hospital. Crocheting has gotten me through some rough times in my life when I felt like things couldn't get worse. I turned to the hook in college when I was working two jobs at a full time schedule while going to school full time, and I felt more stressed than I had ever felt before. I crocheted while my husband was deployed, as I was only 21-years-old and none of my college friends could relate to the pain of a 3 year long-distance relationship. I crocheted when I felt rejected after not getting my dream job after graduating from college while I watched my friends slowly get jobs they loved. As I realized crocheting was the one constant thing in my life keeping me going mentally and emotionally, I concluded that I wanted to share that feeling with the world. Crochet was simply a stress-reliever until this past year, when I decided to share my passion with others. Each time I craft an item, I think about how I would wear it. What scarf I would pair a headband with, if I would wear a cardigan or simple t-shirt with a scarf, or what shoes I would pair with a clutch. I love using crochet as an accessory to my clothes and my goal with Caught on a Hook is to keep the art of crochet alive with chic and gorgeous products.
