These are amazing! The craftsmanship is so on! In fact, my entire package was so creative and filled with treasures - it all felt made just for me. The collage wrapping and copper music note pendant are so cool (and perfect for me!) Thank you for such memorable gifts in addition to my awesome purchase! <3
Equipped for Eternity
I started making my own jewelry back in 1997 because I could not find anything in shops that I could relate to. I began collecting crystals and stones from lapidary shops, and making necklaces with them. I soon moved to California from New Orleans and was strongly impacted by the amazing array of tribal jewelry in piercing/tattoo shops as well as boutiques all over the San Francisco Bay Area. Simultaneously I also stumbled upon some old National Geographics in a thrift store, and was reminded of my childhood love for the magazine. Flipping through them as an adult, I found a whole new inspiration in them - tribal adornment. I started studying old issues as well as old anthropology and history books I found here and there to help come up with new ideas.
I soon began collecting materials by the ocean and in the forests to assemble my own ear plugs and necklaces. One day i walked into Body Manipulations in SF and they asked me where i got my jewelry, and when I told them I made it myself they encouraged me to refine my style and make more to sell. This is where it all began. 16 years later, after many incarnations of a website and peddling at outdoor markets, here i am writing this bio on Etsy.

I adopted the name Cavewizard because I have tattoos of anthropomorphic shamans from the La Trois Freres cave in France. Cave art, shamanism, Elder Futhark Runes, and primitive art are elements that influence my art and jewelry.
Most of our designs have their roots in jewelry and art from tribal cultures around the world—still existing as well as those that have disappeared. Our items are all unique and handmade here in the United States. While we are always busy making our own designs, we also welcome custom work and will be happy to work with your design or idea. Please feel free to email or call with an idea!
