Announcement   What Is a Dream Sweater Coat????? These sweaters inspire women who are warm, caring, fun, happy, intelligent and compassionate. And, like Molly Weasley, it takes a very special kind of woman with the right combination of desire to fight for what she believes in, face her challenges with her head up, maternal instincts and self confidence to wear one or many!

I also recycle sweaters - I take a vintage sweater who has been treated well in the past but needs a new forever home, replace the sleeves with my sleeves, add a collar, hood, whatever strikes my fancy and wha-la, there's an old creation with a new magical look.

Please visit my facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/ccdzs. I will announce upcoming offers and sweaters on my Facebook page. I also have another shop on etsy for scarves, hats and more: http://gotchacoveredbydzs.etsy.com.

These sweaters are NOT cheap, and they are NOT cheap to make. They take about 7 to 10 days, some times longer, especially if I am waiting on a particular yarn. They are an investment. But when you get yours in the mail, I think you will find they are worth every penny. My customers are very satisfied and are in awe of the quality and beauty of each one as you can tell from my feedback.

If you choose to dream your own dream for a custom Dream Sweater Coat, the process is as follows:

My Dream Sweater listings are examples of what I can do with a custom order. Please look them over, decide what fibers and colors you want in a sweater, then convo me and we'll conjure one up all your own. I could post color suggestions but the possibilities are as endless as your own imagination. Send me a picture or an article of clothing with all your favorite colors and I will match it. Dream a little dream and we will make it real. If a sweater is ready to ship, it will state that in the title.

I've had customers tell me my sweaters exceed their expectations when they finally see them "in person." I love to watch the combinations come together then see the final total effect when they are done. Every time I make a set of sleeves, I conjure up my own magic. My belles can be any size and more like the sleeves on Molly's original sweater in the movie, The Chamber of Secrets. No two sweaters are the same and the results are striking.

I will start by pulling yarns according to the color palette you tell me you want. I'll send you a picture of the exact yarns to be used in your sweater to make sure you are satisfied with the combinations. You will receive an estimate on when the sweater will be started and an estimate on when it will be finished. I will convo you when I start, and again when the sleeves are finished. At that point I'll send you pictures of your sleeves and three choices of wooden buttons made by etsy artisans. Again, as it progresses, you will be kept apprised and when it is ready to be listed for your final payment and shipping (unless you paid for it in full upfront), I'll let you know. You are part of the process all the way through. Of course, you could order one of my ready made sweaters or a vintage sweater and skip the whole custom made process altogether.

You will receive exactly the piece shown in photos unless otherwise stated in the description. I ship Priority Mail, 2 - 3 day delivery in the continental US, with delivery confirmation. If you need it faster than that, please convo me first before placing the order. For International - I use USPS 1st Class mail.

Custom orders do have a longer shipping time (because I have to make them....). All custom orders require a 50% non-refundable deposit up front - see Shop Policies for details. And, I must receive final payment for the finished sweater within 15 days of its final Listing. Alternate pay plans can be arranged BEFOREHAND, if necessary. Just convo me. The prices for custom made items are a little higher than my ready made items because of the time, effort and extra materials/fibers involved in making sure your finished item is exactly what you want and you receive a true piece of Wearable Art.

All items are made in a smoke free home. All yarns and crocheted items are stored in dust free pouches that keep the fibers clean and fresh.

About

Creation and Evolution

Crochet Creations by Dottie Z. Scher started in 1991 in Loveland, Ohio. Until that year, I never made crochet items for sale. A friend who owned an Interior Design Shop asked me to make some crocheted decorative pillows for one of her customers. Thus, CCDZS was born. Over the years, I've sold in emporiums, at fairs and festivals, gift shops, yarn shops and online. In 2011, I partnered with Lisa Correia of Enlightened Platypus here on etsy and my online business began a steady increase in interest and sales. Now CCDZS is going strong.

People give me ideas and make requests on a regular basis - I was worried it would be burdensome but instead It's fun and challenging. After decades in the Child Protective Services field, it's wonderful to be able to do something relaxing that I really enjoy! Along with babysitting my grand children, working with Prevent Child Abuse Gaston and Arts on Main (Gaston County Art Guild), my crochet work is my therapy, my grounding, my inspiration and my continuing education.

Crochet has been an art for generations in my family. One day when I was 15, I picked up a book of crochet motifs, challenged myself to make every one (there are over 150 patterns in that book) and I was "hooked", so to speak!

What would you do if you knew you could not fail? The first time I heard that saying, I paused for about a minute - so many things flew through my mind - raise the money needed for my favorite charity, send my son to the best college possible, make sure my grandchildren have everything they need to become responsible adults, the possibilities are endless. I crochet as therapy, to supplement my income (I'm a retired Social Worker), because I love to see what I can create and because I love to see someone smile when they receive something they really like.

I hope you find something here you can't live without!.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
  • Money Order
Payment
Credit cards are accepted through Pay Pal and I will accept money orders.

Installment/Layaway plan (for Ready to Ship pieces only - this option is not for Custom orders): You MUST convo me BEFORE choosing this option. 20% non-refundable deposit required to hold the item by Paypal or Money Order. Payment (In Full) must be received by 45 days after the original purchase date. I will reserve and edit my listing to reflect the balance after the 20% down payment has been received and after each payment by Money Order. Item will be shipped when the full balance has been paid either by Money Order or Paypal and verified by Paypal. If full payment has not been received by 45 days, all funds received except the 20% deposit will be refunded and the item will be relisted.

If you need to spead out payments on a custom order, we can discuss an individual plan. All custom orders do require a 50% non-refundable downpayment before I can start working on it.
Shipping
(Please read before ordering.)

All orders shipped in 2-3 business days via USPS Priority Mail after payment is received. Framed doilies, because they are covered in glass, will be shipped by UPS Ground - 2nd Day. I will insure and request signature service for the Framed Doilies. That Service is included in the shipping costs. All the matted and framed doilies are shipped in a box specifically made to ship framed materials and artwork. This does add an expense to the shipping but it insures that the goods get to the customer in pristine condition. If the shipping costs are actually less than I have stated, the difference will be refunded to the customer.
Refunds and Exchanges
Returns:

1) Please communicate with me within 48 hours after receiving the item to discuss the reason you wish to return it.

2) The item must be returned in it's original condition and unused.

3) I do not accept returns on Custom Orders, nor on items that you have requested adjustments or changes be made.

4) Shipping charges on returns and exchanges are the buyer's responsibility.
Additional policies and FAQs
CUSTOM ORDERS: I do accept custom orders with a 50% non-refundable deposit and the balance due upon completion of the piece. Payment for deposit must be completed within 24 hours of the initial posting and I must have the deposit up front so I can be sure to purchase the yarn necessary BEFORE I start the piece. If there is any question regarding the price of a custom piece, please convo me and we will discuss. I must receive payment in full or payment confirmation from PayPal before the piece will be shipped.

During the completion process, I will send you pictures of the sleeves once they are crocheted with at least two selections of buttons. Once the process gets to that stage, I am very close to finishing the sweater. When I am at this stage of completing the sweater, I will expect your button decision within two weeks. The sweater will be listed and reserved for you when it is completed. Final payment is due before shipping and within 15 days from the date I send you a convo stating it is finished and listed. If necessary, other payment plans can be arranged but we MUST communicate what those terms are and come to an agreement beforehand. Otherwise, if I do not receive final payment within 15 days after listing, the sweater will be listed as a ready to sell piece with no reservation at full price. It will sell to the first person who buys it.

All items are packaged in a Krystal (Clear) Poly Pouch which keeps it clean and free of dust, hair, etc. All items are handmade. I try to represent the items, colors and appearance of each item in the photos as close to reality as possible. No two items are exactly alike. All items are from a smoke free home. My dogs are allowed in my home but they are NOT allowed near my yarn.
