About

Life in Macro: Finding Large Amounts of Beauty in a Small World

I've always been a person who is drawn to the minutiae of life, in tune with and entranced by the details that make up our world. I was excited to discover, in recent years, that digital camera technology had evolved to include the ability to take macro photographs: that is, to create images of small objects that are larger than life size. I love how macro photography reveals unexpected colors and textures and beautiful shapes in ordinary objects that were invisible or not easily recognizable to the naked eye.

In 2009, photography became more important to me than just a hobby. I was stricken by chronic migraines that forced me to quit my job as a floral designer, halt my studies in graphic design, cease writing creatively, and withdraw almost completely from the world in order to reduce the severity of the daily headaches. It is still necessarily for me to have a creative outlet, though, and I found that taking photos was easy enough for me to do even on days when I was having trouble thinking. And because my interest is the macro view of everyday life, the fact that it is difficult for me to leave the house is no impediment to my ability to take beautiful photographs! Etsy is a way for me to share my work with others and remain engaged with the outside world that I can no longer interact with face-to-face.

I'm not well enough to update my store nearly as often as I like, but Etsy still provides a valuable outlet for my talents and I've found a supportive community here, especially among the Createability Team members, an Etsy team for those who live with disabilities or care for those who are disabled. Thanks to photography, in spite of my considerable limitations, I don't have to think of myself as "disabled." Instead, I can proudly think of myself as an artist.

Welcome to the world of c. creativity, where all the minute details of the ordinary things that surround us are revealed in beautiful photographs!

All photos are printed on Kodak Professional Endura Supra papers, which are guaranteed to last a lifetime. Unless specifically listed or requested otherwise, all photos are printed on Matte paper, but Lustre, Glossy, and Metallic finishes are also available. (There is a small extra charge for metallic prints, but the vivid colors and shimmering contrasts are worth it!) Different print sizes may be available than those listed. I use a professional photo lab to print orders and usually receive the prints from them within four business days. When I mail the prints on to you, I carefully pack them in plastic sleeves inside rigid cardboard mailers to ensure they arrive undamaged. Prints are mailed via USPS.

Please convo me if you have questions, wish to make a request, want to select a finish, change a print size, or make special shipping arrangements. I look forward to hearing from you!
