Absolutely pristine vintage horse sweater. Thank you! I received it quickly and communication was prompt and friendly!

About

truly handmade

My brain is always whirling and twirling with ideas. Some times I come up with things when I'm dreaming, some times I see a beautiful person and dress them in my mind, some times I just find an awesome fabric and work with its texture until I create something I like.

I'm heavily influenced by the style of the 1950's and the 1960's and its recent pin-up/rockabilly revival. My style icon would be Joan Harris of MadMen... with tattoos and a septum piercing! I love the classic shapes and how they emphasize the curvy figure, but I grew up in the punk and ska scene so everything I make and sell still has an edginess to it.

I design all my pieces with the curvy girl in mind. As such, all my bandeaus are supportive and I won't try to hide your figure. I reject plus size clothes that seek to cover up the wearer, as if you're supposed to be ashamed of your body. I feel all people are beautiful, and that you should be able to find quality, sexy clothes in your size and style.

My process goes something like this: 1) I have an idea.
2) I go to the fabric store. 3) I start making the piece in my size or that of a friend. 4) They or I wear it for a while to make sure it's comfortable and fits right. For example, if I'm designing a top for someone who is busty, I will get someone else to give me a review as to its supportiveness and nip-slip factor (which is all too common with bandeaus). 5) I make adjustments accordingly and remake the piece.

I make everything entirely by hand. Meaning that I don't use any machines, including sew machines. I sew each seam 4-6 times for strength and lasting durability. I really believe that you should be able to ride your bike freely without worrying about your clothes! It's a long process but I feel it adds a special touch to the item. As this is the way I create, it takes at least 3 days to make a piece after ordering.

Hi! I'm Smokey! I'm 0.33 years old. I have an affinity for chewing on sharp metal objects so mommy doesn't let me in her workspace much. That's ok, me and Ceiling Cat have a deal where he looks over Cherri so I can do my other job: being adorable :)
