Huzzah and well met!
Due to Covid-19 and the cancellation of all faires we had scheduled for 2020, we are sticking to the safety of our home for the foreseeable future. We are not alone. Other artisans are in the same position as we are and are trying to find ways to bring their creations safely to the public as well. While we do not depend on these sales to make a living, many in our field do. Faire Relief 2020 is trying to help artisans like us connect with the public virtually. Check it out.

We are still actively creating beautifully handcrafted items to sell at future dates while we explore multiple platforms for sales during these trying times. Thank you for your patience.
We look forward to meeting with you whether in person or virtually. We sincerely hope you stay well and stay safe. We are all in this together.

Huzzah! Chainmaille is not just for Medieval Lords and Ladies anymore! Welcome to Silver Fox Chainmaille and Leather! Chainmaille jewelry and accessories, unique jewelry for unique people. NEW! We've now added handmade leather goods to our list of growing products. Pouches and bags, skirt hikes, mug straps, baldrics, glove frogs, bracers, key chains and more.

Handmade jewelry designs can be worn with period re-enactment costumes for Renaissance/Celtic/Pirate Faires, Gothic fashions, belly dancers or choose more comtemporary designs for everyday use.
Chainmaille, the ancient art of knitting or weaving metal rings is over 2,000 years old. It has long been associated with medieval knights throughout Europe but was also used by the Celts, Romans and Japanese. All our jewelry is made by hand using a wide variety of traditional weaves requiring rings made from annodized aluminum, stainless steel, galvanized steel, copper, brass, jewelers brass, sterling silver and gold fill wire. In addition we also incorporate Swarovski® Crystals, Czech Glass beads, Sterling silver/Bali silver beads or charms and spacers. Dragonscales are also available in a variety of finishes.

We design and make necklaces, chokers, bracelets, arm bands, headbands, hand flowers, ankle bracelets, barefoot sandals, keychains, hackey-sack covers, wallet chains, guitar straps, belts, bookmarks, epaulet chains for bikers' leathers or dice bags for fantasy gamers, suitable for men or women. We have a wide price range from the inexpensive to more expensive custom/special order pieces fashioned from sterling silver and gold fill materials.

We'll be adding many more items in the near future.

    Silver Fox Chainmaille & Leather

I've always been crafty. Crocheting, knitting, and sewing, crazy about tools and gadgets since I was a little girl. I loved to learn new things and still do. Silver Fox Chainmaille was born in 2007 while my mother was going through chemo for breast cancer. Her chemo sessions were very long and I needed something to do to pass the time. Something easy to transport that didn't take up a lot of space and fun to do. Reading books just put me to sleep! About the same time, my sister asked me if I could make a chainmaille epaulet chain for her motorcycle jacket. She'd shown me a picture of one and it didn't look too hard to make, so I researched the internet for beginner instructions on how to make chainmaille. Long story short, I was hooked after learning the first few weaves. It was much like quilting, something I'd been doing for 30 years. My sister soon joined me in learning the chainmaille weaves after I presented her with her first jacket chain. Soon we were making chainmaille jewelry for friends and family. We did a few craft shows and motorcycle rallies and were successful in selling many of our creations. Not long after, we created a web page to sell our jewelry on and then found Etsy and thought it was another avenue to get our creations out into the market place. We had to support our hobby somehow!
In 2013 we became vendors at a small Ren Fair in Wisconsin. We didn't see much leather goods being sold there and decided to add it to our business. It then became an extension of our costumes we wear to Renaissance faires. For years we've needed to add pouches and corsets, skirt hikes and mug straps, waist cinchers and belts, sword and dagger frogs to our costumes anyway, so why not learn to make them from leather ourselves! My years of experience in sewing, crafts, jewelry making and graphic arts (23 years working at a newspaper), along with the talents of my son Aaron whose mechanical knowledge and craftsmanship at building things has allowed us to turn out some very nice leather works, a gypsy vardo we can use to vend from when we do outdoor shows, and a variety of displays to showcase our items.

Silver Fox Chainmaille is a small family business. Mom, Sis and the kids. We handcraft all our own jewelry and accessories. We don't import our chainmaille ready-made from overseas, however we do use Swarovski crystals and Czech glass, as well as Hill Tribe or Bali silver components in our designs. These are provided for sale by companies that do import these items for artisans that make jewelry. We are very conscious about avoiding materials containing lead and make every effort to purchase components certified by our suppliers as "lead free". We try our best to provide "nickel free", nobium or surgical stainless steel ear wires for those that have metal allergies.
