Welcome to my studio! Here you will find paintings and prints of my original work that are painted and sewn with love.
Guiding a painting through the sewing machine connects me to past generations who created quilts to warm their loved ones. I infuse that same love and intention of warmth into my paintings.
My imagined landscapes blend buildings and natural elements. I use paint and thread to create a world of color and texture that is grounded in hope.

Imagining a more colorful, connected, and peaceful world.
Chai Wolfman is a visual artist working with paint and thread. Whether she’s making imagined landscapes, her signature meditation buddies, or stitched mantra paintings, her work is vibrant, imaginative, and imbued with a sense of peace. She creates work with themes like community, connection, and hope - all things she’d like to see more of in the world.
Chai’s original works are painted and sewn on paper - both with the sewing machine and embroidered by hand. The process of cutting and tearing paintings and stitching them back together is inspired by crazy quilting and the symbolic idea that something beautiful and new can come from the scraps. Other motifs like cityscapes, light strings, roots, and trees, all add layers of meaning.
Chai opened her etsy shop in 2011 when her twin daughters were still babies. They now affectionately refer to her meditation buddy paintings as the ones with “the peace guy.” These paintings can be a reminder to take a moment to breathe and remember that you are loved.
Chai started The Found Painting Project in 2014. Driven by a desire to brighten someone's day and make art more accessible, she hangs small paintings on trees for people to discover and take home. To date, more than 450 paintings have been hung around the world. This project is just one more way to spread the love and connect through painting.
