***UPDATE JUNE 21, 2020: We want to give a big THANK YOU!! to everyone who has purchased our black lives matter posters in the last few weeks. With your purchases, we have been able to donate more than $230 to the Know Your Rights campaign, which is Colin Kaepernick's legal defense initiative. The campaign provides legal resources for victims of police brutality and protesters who have been arrested while fighting injustice. It's a cause we believe in strongly and we are so grateful for your support. THANK YOU!***
Charissa Pray Designs is a high quality collection of handmade gifts. Here you will find crochet and knit items, tee shirts, art prints, and more. Charissa (aka Carrie) is a trained artist with more than seven years of experience in professional product design as well as a degree in fine art - this background translates into fine craftsmanship, high quality materials, and an emphasis on great design. Rebekah, our in-house master knitter, has been knitting since she was 7 years old. She is an incredible craftswoman who does impeccable work.
*Are you looking for my free knit and crochet patterns? They can be found on Ravelry, here: http://www.ravelry.com/designers/charissa-pray*
Lately I've received a number of inquiries about whether proceeds from this shop go to charities, particularly the pussy hats made to support and commemorate the women's march. The short answer is, absolutely! I give regularly to both charities and less formal causes such as friends with sick family members or giving household items to immigrant and refugee families in need. I generally give as I see a need, in response to current events. If there is a particular charity you would like to support with your purchase, please let me know!
I know you have a lot of choices on Etsy, and our items are probably not the least expensive option. But we think they are worth it for a few reasons:
1. we use high quality materials - our knit and crochet items are made mostly with cotton, wool or wool blends, and other natural materials. For jewelry we use sterling silver and genuine gemstones. We strongly believe that using higher quality materials yields a higher quality product.
2. We offer full customization. We will work with you to make your item exactly what you are envisioning.
3. Our crafstmanship is excellent. We have a combined total of over 30 years of experience in knitting, crochet, design, and jewelry making! Charissa's background in professional product design has given her a detail oriented critical eye. We don't ship what we don't love. That being said, if you don't love what you receive, please let us know so we can correct it!
4. We believe in feminism, equality, and fair wages. Sometimes that means we charge more than others because we are trying to make a fair hourly wage for our work. We are also currently working to avoid suppliers who do not support social causes.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to send a message! Love and stitches,
Charissa & Rebekah

We ordered an item she had in stock, and an item she needed to make from scratch. Both were shipped very quickly! -

Update: I posted the review before the package actually got here. Can't blame the seller for storm-induced shipping delays, and she really was on the ball every step of the way.
Now that the hat and gloves are actually here, I am blown away! I ordered these to give to my husband for our anniversary in the fall, expecting it to take a lot longer for someone to hand knit something with such intricate designs. Well, she works faster than I could possibly have imagined!
The spider design is beautiful. It's raised, but soft, and holds its shape whether the items are worn or laying on a table. The yarn is very high quality, and light enough to wear in spring without his head getting too hot.
100% recommend this shop! -

Crafting a Family Business
Hi! I'm Charissa Pray but you can call me Carrie. I started this shop more than ten years ago, in 2007. I sold handmade gemstone jewelry. A few years later I began crocheting and knitting, and I added those items to the store. I finished my BA in fine art in 2010, and added art prints and other designed products.
In 2014, after having the first of my two daughters, I left the fulltime work force and began freelancing & focusing more on the etsy shop. It was an amazing time when I was able to be with my kids and make art for a living! After the 2016 election, my shop got much more politically focused. I brought my sister on to help make hats for the Womens March, and she became an integral part of the shop.
These days I am working full time and Bekah now manages the shop. We still have all of my artwork & crochet and knit patterns for sale, and Bekah will be adding her unique items. We are so happy to be able to share our work with the world!
WIth love,
Carrie & Bekah
