ENAMELING: MY PASSION
In 2007, after retiring from teaching eighth grade English for 34 years, I decided to pursue a second career involving an art form that would happily carry me through the rest of my life. I had already tried stained glass, pen and ink, polymer clay, weaving, quilting, and many types of paper crafts. My basement is a testimant to the materials collected in those pursuits!
After attending several art retreats across the country and taking fabulous classes from talented instructors, my choices began to narrow. I knew at this point that I was looking for an art form that was not only functional, but also unique, and it had to be something that would hold my interest. It was then that I knew jewelry-making was one component in my new life's focus.
In one class taught by Richard Salley, I was discovered the magic of enameling. There weren't any bells and whistles, fireworks or sirens, but I was certain after that class that I had found the final piece to my search. Making enameled jewelry would be my life's passion, and I have never looked back!
Nearly six years later, after building a enameling and teaching studio in my home and opening three Etsy shops, I look forward every day to firing up the kiln. I love to experiment with copper and enamel. and, more often than not, "failures" turn into "Happy Accidents" that lead to some unusual jewelry creations or interesting ideas for new art retreat classes!

Nothing gives me more satisfaction than creating with metal and enamels except maybe teaching others the joys of doing it, too! I instruct enameling in my PA home studio, along with Art and Soul, Create, and BeadFest art retreats.
