5 out of 5 starsI wanted something to put on the bottom of some slippers that were wearing out. These looked like a good choice. They were easy to sew on, soft and flexible and grip really well. Only time will tell how they hold up.
They shipped out quickly and received them in good time. -

About chasingfireceramics
Art To Accent Your Life
Welcome to Chasing Fire! We are located in beautiful Calgary, Alberta within a short trip of the amazing foothills of the Rockies. The sky is huge. The inspiration is limitless.
The studio started with a simple community pottery class in 2002, igniting a passion for clay. I worked out of community studios, sharing equipment since it is very expensive to purchase. A flash of luck: Jay did some roofing work in exchange for a kiln, we made space for clay work at home and then I stumbled across a unique hand forged wheel = our dream of our own studio in 2011.
Cara: While the wheel is my original passion, I have become taken by the amazing flexibility that is hand-building since the birth of our son in 2009. You will often see a variety of methods as I play, because Chasing Fire is my creative play, my happy place and my passion.
I'm currently obsessed (really really obsessed) with buttons. People knit, sew and crochet amazing objects and I am giddy when I see my buttons on their artwork, making the item 100% handmade.
Jason: I joined joined the studio work to create mugs and yarn bowls. I like details, texture, and humour to be reflected in my work
We take great pride in our work and hope that you enjoy our items as much as we have enjoyed creating them. We use local suppliers (including Ceramics Canada, Plainsman Clays and local printers) and etsy sellers to bolster my "local" communities.
We now have a website that details our creative process, what's going on at the studio and in our little creative circle: http://www.chasingfirestudio.com
The name “chasing fire” comes from the core of ceramics – the transformation of clay through flame. Today, we as ceramic artists often use enclosed kilns, electric or gas fueled, to "fire" our work. The flame is concealed unlike the visible rawness of pit or raku firing. We only have to revisit the raku process (light it all on fire!) to remind ourselves of the core beauty of this art form, taking what is mud and creating art through fire. Thus, our passion for this art is represented by our need to always be chasing that transformation, chasing fire.

Cara
Owner, Maker, Designer
I'm a prairie girl, born and bred in small town Saskatchewan. My passions are split between technology and fine arts. I first sat at a pottery wheel in 2002 and fell in love. Making beautiful things from mud is magic.

Jay
Owner, Maker, Kiln Tech
Jay is an artist when not servicing our kiln, making tools for the studio, and running firings. His creations are functional tableware with a twist, influenced by car & geek culture, and his Irish Canadian Heritage. He is also our leather worker.

We cannot guarantee shipping times once packages have been dropped at the postal outlets. If I could, I would, but I cannot. Sometimes it may take weeks to receive your order once it leaves my door if customs is involved, and I cannot help this however I do everything in my power to ensure a smooth transition by filling out all paperwork because we have experience with this! During the holiday season, allow some extra time for delivery because your local mailcentre is overwhelmed.

Frequently asked questions
Are ceramics (pottery) dishwasher and microwave safe?
Yes! We do suggest extra care when loading/unloading as accidents tend to happen during cleaning and when holding very hot liquids.
How do I sew on my slipper soles?
We created a YouTube video to show you how we sew on our slipper soles to crochet/knitted slippers:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCGSXWUua9o
Are your slipper soles washable?
We handwash our slippers and soles with woolwash (due to the nature of the slippers that the soles are sewn to) and airdry.
