About ChattyCatsDesign

Sales 43
On Etsy since 2010

Welcome to Chatty Cat's!

If you knew me, you'd know the name of my business is appropriate - I got my chattiness from my mom! And you'd laugh at the number of times people have assumed I sell "cat things"!

I've been creating jewelry for over two decades, starting out as a silver smith in the early 90's. Since then, I've had a son, lived all over the country, and switched gears on my jewelry making. I've been selling beaded jewelry since about '07, and enjoy working with other artisans' components.

I believe by buying a handmade item, you are getting something truly unique and special. Anyone can buy mass produced "designer" jewelry for exorbitant prices. You've seen it... the plastic or cheaply made pieces in high end stores that sell for WHAT PRICE??? And then you can look like everyone else. What's the fun in that?

I love when my customers write and tell me how they feel when they wear one of my pieces. We all need validation and support here in the handmade community. Often we wonder, "Should I continue doing this?"...and thankfully, because of the feedback we receive, the answer is a resounding YES!

So, thank you for taking the time to stop by to have a look. I hope you find a piece that speaks to you. If you have any questions, or would like to know how to have something created just for you, please shoot me an email.

Cheers,
Cat

Welcome...thank you for taking the time to visit my shop. I'm a one woman show here...from design to creation, photographing, editing to listing, packing and shipping.

Issues, concerns, questions.... I like to work with people on an individual basis. I understand that life happens while we conduct business with the best intentions. I know there are circumstances that can pop up suddenly, as this has happened to me often enough! So, if you have any questions or concerns, please don't be afraid to just shoot me an email. I'm here for my customers, and value your business.

Also, I am willing to reserve items for customers, as I understand you don't always find what you love exactly on payday! Please contact me for details. Thanks!

Returns and exchange details
I hope you are as enamored with your purchase when you receive it as you were when you bought it! However, I understand that sometimes this is not always the case. I will do my best to describe the piece fully, and please understand that colors may vary slightly on each individual monitor.

If you have any questions regarding a piece, please contact me BEFORE purchasing, so I can clear up any concerns. If you still need to return an item, please return it within 7 days in its original condition, properly packaged, with all original gift bags, etc., and at your expense. RETURNED ITEMS MUST BE INSURED. For health reasons, returns on pierced earrings will not be accepted. Custom orders are not refundable as all details are discussed and agreed upon before purchase.
Payment
Payment is expected at time of purchase. If you have a special request for extending the payment date, please contact me BEFORE purchasing. I am happy to work with you, as I know things do come up unexpectedly! However, if payment is not received, and you don't contact me to discuss payment, I will have no choice but to cancel the transaction and relist the item.

At the time of checkout, you will be directed to the PayPal website and you have the option of using your credit card or your PayPal account, if you have one.

According to Etsy's policy, we must offer Direct Checkout through them or lose our shop. However, payments for sales do not reach us sellers in a timely manner...hence, my desire for customers to pay through PayPal. I appreciate you using PayPal to pay! You do not need a PayPal account to pay with a card. See "How-to Pay with a Credit Card and Create a PayPal Account" here:

For step by step instruction to the checking out process, see this guide. http://www.etsy.com/help_guide_checkout.php
Shipping
Unless otherwise arranged, I will ship your item(s) via USPS First Class with Delivery Confirmation within 1-2 days of receiving payment. I usually ship the next day after receiving payment. If you would prefer to have your order shipped Priority instead of First Class, please email me before purchase and I will modify the listing to reflect the Priority cost.

FOR MY LOCALS: Please contact me directly for any purchase. Shipping it to you when I can deliver it seems silly, right?!

NOTE: I ONLY SHIP TO THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA.

Your purchase is mailed in a padded bubble mailer, unless you upgrade to Priority or Express Mail. And, I will always put your purchase in a pretty bag, ready for gifting!

I TAKE GREAT CARE TO ENSURE YOUR INVESTMENT IS PACKAGED PROPERLY, HOWEVER, INSURANCE IS UP TO THE BUYER. IF YOU WOULD LIKE INSURANCE, OR ANY OTHER ADDED SERVICES, PLEASE CONTACT ME BEFORE PURCHASE.

I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST OR DAMAGED ITEMS ONCE THE PACKAGE LEAVES MY HANDS! REPLACEMENT IS NOT AN OPTION AS MOST OF MY WORK IS ONE OF A KIND :)
Additional policies and FAQs
Custom orders are welcomed and relished! Let's make you something as unique as you are! Please contact me for further information.

NOTE: It has come to my attention that some of my customers love their purchases so much that they literally never take them off! Although I'm flattered, there are some problems with this habit. Your handmade jewelry creation is a piece of art & I use quality components in my work. However, even the sturdiest of creations usually cannot withstand 24/7/365 wear, with the exception of hard metals and diamonds!

Please treat your piece gently. It will certainly hold up under normal wear, and should last a lifetime if respected, but will suffer if you wear it in the shower, the pool, etc. as it can be damaged by chemicals, lotions, hair products, etc. I guarantee my work to be free of workmanship defects, but failure to follow these instructions will void guarantee.

Frequently asked questions
Do you duplicate an item that has been sold?

Most of my work is one of a kind. My signature earrings and bangles "The Birds and the Bees" are an item I make multiples of. But because I purchase sometimes one-of-a-kind components to use in my jewelry , most things cannot be duplicated. This reinforces my idea that most people like a unique piece of jewelry.

Care instructions

As each piece of jewelry is unique, so can the care of the item be unique as well. Pearls for instance should never be stored in a plastic bag. To clean silver, a Jewelers polishing cloth is usually all you need to take off light tarnish. Be careful with oxidized silver - you don't want to take off too much of the black oxidation or you will ruin the contrast effect. I would be happy to answer any questions on the proper care of your jewelry purchase.

TIPS:

Turquoise is a favorite of mine, and it is a soft stone. Every few months, take a tiny amount of mineral oil and rub on the stones. Let soak in and then buff with clean cloth.

Never store pearls in plastic...

Gift wrapping and packaging

I always carefully wrap and package your purchase with coordinating tissue paper and an organza gift bag, suitable for gift giving.

Wholesale availability
