These brilliantly simple strips of metal have expressed our feelings when words fall short. For more than 20 years Gail Chavenelle’s sculptures have helped us celebrate, give thanks, mourn, laugh and sing.

Her sculptures are created from a single piece of metal, cut and bent into form. They range from 5 inches to 5 feet! in height, and come in both stainless and rust finishes (varies with pieces). Gail’s work, represented in shops and galleries nationwide, comes straight to you on ETSY!!!

LARGER DECOR/GARDEN SCULPTURE
I create each sculpture entirely by hand from a single piece of flat metal, folding and bending a shape drawn freehand without patterns. The finish ranges from stainless steel, rusted steel and a variety of colored powder-coated finishes ( baked on for us by a local paint shop ).

GIFT AND MINIATURE SCULPTURE
My most popular sculptures on Etsy are the Gift and Miniatures. They are fun, elegant and AFFORDABLE. To keep them affordable, since the shapes are often complex, I cannot cut them out by hand. So... I take advantage of LASER CUTTING
technology, to keep these 5"-15" sculpture the affordable choice.

MY CREATION PROCESS-MINIATURE/GIFT SERIES ...
1. I draw a design on a sheet of paper and take a photo.
2. I am techie enough ( Whew!) to use photoshop and illustrator to transfer this photo design into a DXF file which a laser control computer can use.
3. I email the newdesign.dxf file to a local metal fabrication company ( which owns the VERY VERY ( OH, SO) EXPENSIVE laser cutter. ( Obviously a solo studio artist like me cannot afford one )
4. My complex and small designs are laser cut with SMOOTH EDGES.
5. I pick up the FLAT cutouts and...
6. With my hand alone, I grind imperfections to a swirl finish ...
then....
7. I personally bend and create your 3D sculpture for you!
