Even prettier that I expected! I have this next to my kitchen sink and the little flecks of color and sparkle make me smile every time I see it. Thank you, Michele. Your work is absolutely beautiful!

About

Home Decor Gift Ideas

Watch the video above as I make a fused glass mosaic glass cross and it will give you an idea of the time and care I take to design, cut, place, and fuse each glass piece in my shop.

Ever since I took my first stained glass course at a local university I was impassioned with designing and creating art glass. Then I saw a colorful Fused Glass Art piece that was shaped like a bowl and I learned all I could to make such items while taking multiple classes in glass fusing. Since then I have made many creations and my style has developed. A big inspiration occurred when my friend was getting married. She liked ferns and I wanted to give her a wedding present using ferns with a personal touch for her home decor. I made her a sushi set with an impression of a real fern on each plate. The following is how I created that piece:

[[Each fused glass piece is created by first selecting the ferns or plants. The plant is coated with fine powdered glass and placed at the bottom of selected layers of glass. Every piece typically consists of two layers of glass. The plant burns away during the kiln firing leaving the "fossil" behind on the fused glass. The fused glass piece is then shaped into bowls, plates or candle holders during a slumping process.]]

Using handcrafted items is expected to continue for years as an interior design trend. Floral designs are also still popular. The Pantone color of the year for 2017 is called 'Greenery'! This green found in the color of leaves is very exciting to many of my natural environment inspirations. I am inspired by these colors in nature often! Some of my pieces combine these colors such as the fern glass pieces.

Here is my blog article about the color of the year for 2017!

I believe Art should be used. Most of my pieces are safe to use with food and can be used to decorate your home. People, myself included, often give my creations as gifts. I receive so much enjoyment from creating and seeing people appreciate the usefulness of my art. People I make my fused glass items for enjoy giving them as housewarming gifts, hostess gifts, and displaying them in their homes and offices while using them at parties while entertaining to serve food.

Go to these articles from my blog on some ways to entertain with my glass.

Blues such as Cobalt Blue will also continue to be a popular color! . See this article for home decor ideas http://www.2014interior.com/decoration-trends/cobalt-color-in-the-interior

Finally, I keep my prices at one low rate for labor. This is close to wholesale prices for most of my items! The cost of the glass is a large part of the price. But rest assured the glass is of the highest quality. Some Fused Glass Artists use only one layer of glass, I want you to know I use two layers of glass in most of my pieces to maintain a high durable quality.

I take great care in packaging each and every item for safe shipping! Many times I will also include a gift message free of charge when you include it in your note upon ordering.

Care Instructions

Fused Glass is like any glass or ceramic or other similar item you place in a dishwasher. Although many people place all of these in dishwashers without any problem, there is a chance that the harshness of a mechanical dishwasher may create a milky and/or etched appearance in the glass. Do not place in the microwave.
