Announcement   Coming soon--scarves, tablecloths, and napkins from my studio vacation--once I finish hemming them!
My handcrafted creations include shibori wearables and home furnishings--scarves, tops, napkins, place mats, and tablecloths and runners in natural fabrics. My large lightweight cotton and linen shibori scarves are light, airy, and very soft, and can be worn as a shawl, stole, or beach cover-up, or even draped across a table.
Linen is my favorite fabric to dye, and I'm working with more colors in addition to indigo. I love to upcycle items that are suitable for shibori, transforming plain cotton canvas bags, clothing, or textured fabrics by stitching and folding and dipping them in indigo. The silk scarves are from China and I buy them prehemmed and ready to dye. The linen and cotton napkins are also prehemmed unless specified.
In addition to indigo shibori, I use katazome stencils and rubber stamps to create whimsical patterns on fabric.
And for those of you who love unusual yarn no matter what the season, see my cozy and colorful scarves. I found this fabulous ruffle yarn that sparked my imagination with beautiful colors and unusual construction and created some beautiful and unique scarves. If you're looking for something colorful, cheerful, and chic to keep you warm in cooler temperatures and beyond, take a look at these!
Thanks for stopping by.
Please read my shop policies on hand-dyed fabric and sizing.
Now accepting credit cards and Etsy gift cards! Convo me for shipping outside of the United States.

Oh so much more depth than I expected. Really handsome and you've executed the technique very nicely. If you see me on the streets of New York with your creation on please say hello.

Updates

I designed and cut this stencil using Japanese katazome hole punches. Katazome textiles are typically made using a paste resist. I skipped that step, working directly on colored linen to create these placemats. I have more stencils to use on table linens.

I'm thrilled to have an Etsy shop where I can showcase my fascination with textiles, shibori and indigo in particular. There's only so much of my creations that I can wear or use in my home, so I'm happy to offer them to anyone else who loves the hand-dyed aesthetic. Your purchases allow me to continue exploring all manner of dyeing and printing on natural fabrics, so thanks very much for visiting Chelsea Craft!

Additional policies and FAQs
Hand-dyeing, particularly in an indigo vat, yields unique variations in depth of color. While I try to ensure that similar items have the same depth of color, slight differences are the norm. Variations are also evident across large areas of fabric that are not stitched or bound or folded to resist the color. This variation is the inherent beauty of hand-dyed items. I've tried to show this in my photographs, but keep in mind that colors may also appear slightly different on a computer monitor.
Hand-printing also results in variations in color and pattern, which I view as an expression of the creator.

Sometimes colors appear flat in photos, other times they look a lot hotter than the actual item. I try very hard to color correct my photos to be as accurate as possible. If you have any questions, please convo me.

I often "upcycle" premade items, such as napkins or placemats, in addition to using ready-to-dye clothing blanks and scarves. Many of these items are made abroad and may have irregularities that do not detract from the finished product. I've found this particularly true for napkins, where the corners are often at approximate right angles.

Measurements are approximate and can change slightly whether an item is ironed or not. Also, fit is subjective: the depth of a v-neck might be fine for some, uncomfortable for others; some prefer form-fitting to loose. I suggest comparing measurements of my items with your own garments for the best prediction of fit. While I endeavor to adjust the photos to show colors as accurately as possible, hue and contrast are often subject to monitor variations. Please convo me if you'd like any more detailed description of an item.
