About

Hi, I am Rebecca from ChemKnits, and I am a fiber artist and teacher from Massachusetts.

I started the blog ChemKnits while I was in graduate school, and since earning my PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Pharmacology I have continued to apply my scientific training to the fiber arts. I film knitting and yarn dyeing videos for the ChemKnits Tutorials YouTube Channel. In the fall of 2017, I started publishing at least two new dyeing videos a week, which meant that I was producing a LOT of hand dyed yarn. All of the yarn in this shop has been, or will be, featured in a dyeing video on YouTube.

Frequently asked questions
Do You Ship Internationally?

Yes! Currently many countries are available. As the buyer, you are responsible for all import duties, taxes, and clearance fees. I am not responsible for shipping delays due to customs.

If you country is not listed as an option send me a message and I will look if I can add it as an option.

Returns and Exchanges

Please contact me if there are any problems with your order. Due to the nature of the destash sales, inventory is limited so I might not be able to offer an exchange.

By EU Law, Buyers have the right to return certain products for any reason by contacting the seller within 14 days. If you are in the EU and are unsatisfied with your purchase, you must contact me within 14 days.

Care instructions

Please see the item description for care instructions. All yarns are pre-washed to remove excess dye, but small amounts of color bleeding might occur. For the first few washes, please wash separate and with like colors.

I personally recommend hand washing all hand knit items. Items dyed with food coloring and acid dyes should be washed on cold to prevent bleeding.

Is Food Coloring Washfast?

YES! Yarn dyed with food coloring can go through the washing machine with laundry detergent with no observable color loss.

I have observed some fading when items have been in direct sunlight for months at a time (sitting on a windowsill), but have not observed any fading in winter accessories that I wear outside regularly.
