World Travels, Architecture and the Beautiful Cascade Mountains offer endless inspiration...

I established my jewelry design company in 2008, and opened my Etsy shop in April of 2009. Through an eclectic career and a long, winding road filled with a lifelong passion in a variety of art medias, all paths have finally culminated in a full-time passionate affair with making and creating artisan jewelry pieces!

I am blessed and pinch myself each and every day when I wake and realize instead of getting up, getting dressed and going to work for someone else, I have finally realized my dream of doing what I love full-time, each and every day...creating jewelry! I attribute my "talent" to my mother, who was an amazing and successful seamstress and clothing designer and painter. She was constantly creating and learning new techniques, styles and experimenting in varied medias of art and design, all the while exposing me to her talents and providing me with an appreciation of art and design.

My inspirations oftentimes comes from what surrounds me, whether on a travel adventure (my number 2 love, behind making jewelry!), or at home in the Oregon High Desert. At other times, I may be inspired by something simple and mundane, like a piece of paper, or a plumbing component! Either way, my pieces seldom evolve into what I pictured in my head, but nevertheless, always something that I am proud of and sometimes amazed by.

Each piece of my jewelry is handcrafted, wearable art, made 100% by me. My preferred medium is copper because of it's warmth and natural glow that suits and compliments all skin tones, but also, it's affordability allows most women to own art-gallery-quality jewelry.

I've always had a passion for art and creating it. I've worked in a plethora of medias, from collage art, paper-making, beading, until accidentally discovering a passion working with copper. I love the magic that happens through metalworking!

Cherie Long Designs has evolved over a lifetime of creating art, jewlery, clothing, etc. I have been creating some form of art ever since I can remember. From being taught to crochet and knit at a very early age, from my mother, to sewing, pattern design, art, painting and collages. One now favorite memory (not so much at the time!), was when I was maybe 8 or 9. My mother was a superb seamtress and designer, and always had hoards of fabric and projects in process. One fine day, I found a piece of fabric....I had watched her cut and sew my entire life, and it didn't seem to be that embarked upon cutting my own dress from this beautiful fabric, and commenced sewing (my hand, mind you), my first "couture" endeavor. Although I was so proud of my accomplishment, mom wasn't so enamored when she discovered her special piece of silk had basically been destroyed!
I am blessed to have been influenced and mentored by my mother, who was such a superb seamstress and artist. From an early age, my sisiter and I were always surrounded by her passion for creating beauty from whatever scraps and findings she might come across. Her creativeness was a gift to both of us that continues to inspire. We both possess her passion and talent for designing and creating one of a kind, beautiful pieces. Although she is no longer with us, she inspires us daily.
Each piece of my jewelry is a handcrafted, one of a kind piece of wearable art .My work is a continual evolution of style, technique and design. I use only natural stones, pearls, art glass, etc. My preferred medium of choice is copper, because of the beautiful glow and warmth it creates on every skintone, in addition to it's affordability for almost any woman to own art gallery jewelry pieces, at an affordable price. I do, however, occasionally get the urge or inspiration to incorporate silver, brass or bronze into my pieces. My jewelry is designed with the inspiration to enhance every woman’s beauty and uniqueness.
