Announcement    Welcome to my garden shop. My bird feeders and bird houses are fully functional and have been tested and approved over many years by local birds. I recommend safflower seed for use with the feeders. It attracts a variety of small birds and the squirrels are not big fans safflower seed so they tend to leave the feeder alone. I also have another shop filled with tableware and home accessories. If you would like to visit that shop, the link is: https://www.etsy.com/shop/cherylwolff/

I am a studio potter living in Northern California. All my pottery is handmade. Each piece is designed and made by me in my home studio.

My pottery is slab built, wheel thrown and/or cast from original molds. Most pieces are a combination of at least two of these processes. Once constructed, each piece is textured, altered or finished individually. The glazes are hand-mixed in my studio. All pieces are high-fired in an electric kiln.

I find inspiration in making pieces that people use and enjoy in their daily lives. I was impacted years ago by a comment made in a workshop I attended: "Always look for the extraordinary in the ordinary." I believe that the ordinary things we surround ourselves with - the pieces we use and the things we look at day after day should add beauty to our environment and make us happy when using them. Whether making a platter, a lamp or a garden sculpture, my goal is to contribute beauty, simplicity and a sense of harmony through my work.

I love making things. I love the focus, the preoccupation and the process. Everything I create is hand-crafted in my home studio in Northern California where I am surrounded by redwood trees, nature and wildlife - all of which have influenced me in designing simple, elegant pieces that reflect the quiet, calm beauty of the natural world.

My pottery is slab built, wheel thrown and/or cast from original molds. Most pieces are a combination of at least two of these processes. Once constructed, each piece is textured, altered and finished individually. The glazes are hand-mixed in my studio providing a natural, durable, organic finish. All pieces are high-fired in an electric kiln.

Since I’m in Northern California, my garden pieces stay outside all year. In areas with severe winter weather, I suggest my pottery garden items be brought inside during the icy, snowy months.
