About

My works are a reprieve or a break from "the norm" of what children experience on a daily basis.

I started as an illustrator painting illustrations of children and storybook characters that children would enjoy. Because of recent events, such as the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, I have gained an appreciation for childhood innocence and the desire to share the importance of preserving and protecting that innocence. My other store on Etsy, InnocenceByCWaldron, is dedicated to those children who have lost their innocence far to early, through no fault of their own.

The body of works you find here, on ChickadoodleArt4Kids, is whimsical, light-hearted, and just plain fun! My desire, for this body of work, is to assist children in keeping their childhood innocence until they reach an appropriate age. There seems to be far too many visual images, through internet, television, video games and magazines that cause our children to grow up too quickly. No images of that kind will be found in my store or on my site. My works are a reprieve, of some sort- a break from "the norm", of what children see and experience on a daily basis.

I believe in the therapeutic potential of visual art in promoting healing and because of this, I share my works through different avenues. Children can enjoy my works of art displayed on their bedroom wall, on a notebook, as a jigsaw puzzle or a note card. The moments a child spends looking at one of my prints, putting together one of my puzzles or drawing in one of my notebooks is, at least, a few moments where that child is experiencing their pure innocence.

Additional policies and FAQs
Question: If I own a reproduction of one of your paintings, do I also own the rights to reproduce that image?

No, you don't. I own the rights to my artwork, even if you paid me to make it. If you would like to reproduce my images in any way, please contact me and we can discuss compensation. Of course, if you want to take pictures of your reproduction hanging in your living room, bedroom, etc., that's just fine. I would LOVE to see how you have displayed your piece and will add it to my blog to show it off to other people!

Question: Are your original paintings for sale?

No, not at this time and I can't give you an estimated date of when they will be available.

Question: Are your paintings made on the computer?

No. Each painting is created traditionally from beginning to end. This body of work is painted in Artists' professional acrylic paints on illustration board. The dimensions vary from 5"x7" to 14"x21".

Question: How long does it take you to finish a painting?

The larger the painting the longer it takes to complete. Just the painting process alone can take me up to 90 hours or more. This is not including the thumbnail sketches and finished drawings.

Question: Do you paint other things besides your cute animals?

Yes. I also paint children traditionally, as well. They are painted with Artists' professional oil paints. If you'd like to see examples of this work, you may visit my other store on Etsy, InnocencebyCWaldron, or you may visit my website, www.cyndiwaldron.com, or my blog, www.cyndiwaldron.blogspot.com.
