ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:

Alyssa Galloway is an artist local to southern Illinois, whose inspiration comes from life in the Midwest. Self taught, most of her works are a mix of realism and painterly style art. She uses realistic colors and obvious brush strokes to invoke an old fashioned, vintage feeling that expresses country life as much as the subjects of the paintings. Her paintings have hung in a gallery and are sold through her website worldwide. Most of her work is featured on reclaimed glass, bone, or wood that comes from southern Illinois, rather than the traditional canvas, to more effectively capture the heart of the heartland.

HOW ANTLER ITEMS ARE MADE:

There is of course the fall, when people go hunting for deer with big antlers, but then there is a season after that ends, called shed hunting season! This is when the deer that made it through lose their antlers before re-growing new ones. During this time, my husband goes into the woods, finds shed antlers, and brings them home. Once home, I pick out which antler I want to cut from. Then it is cut, drilled, and sanded to perfection and turned into the pieces you see displayed before you!

Skulls are also not from deer I have killed, but rather items that were going to be discarded, and I wanted to make them shine to celebrate the life of the deer!

A STATEMENT FROM THE OWNER:

My passion is the creative, turning the discarded into something wanted, the basic into something beautiful. I’ve never found any other job that has made me nearly as happy as creating one of a kind art pieces that bring joy and happiness to others. What you’ll find at Shed Beauty are original art pieces that speak to the soul.

Feel free to message me with any questions, for any reason. Thank you for visiting our shop!

Frequently asked questions

What happens if something goes wrong with shipping?

If your item is lost in the mail (30 days have passed from the last tracking update) then I will replace or refund your item.

If your local post office isn't delivering/is holding on to your item, it is the buyers responsibility to contact their local USPS to determine why. They will only give information to the receiving party.

If your item says delivered but is nowhere to be found, check with your local post office and neighbors. Once tracking has been updated to Delivered, there is nothing I can do.

Custom and personalized orders

I have done custom orders in the past, and will continue to do them. However, at least a deposit is required upfront to cover time and materials. No custom order will be completed without payment.

Custom orders are non-refundable and cannot be cancelled once purchased.

How do I start a return?

Double check any special return conditions listed in the description of your item. Message or email me a picture of the damage done during shipping and let me know if you would like a replacement or refund. If you're simply wanting to return, message or email me that you're returning the item, ship with USPS, and once I receive the item and it's in proper condition you will receive a refund of your original shipping cost and item cost (not return shipping cost).

Where do your antlers come from?

My husband had a box of antlers he moved with us for years before I decided it was time to actually do something fun with them! I do not purchase my antlers from anyone and never have. This way, I can insure they were indeed shed antlers (antlers deer shed naturally before regrowing new ones) and control quality of the antlers. They are all from whitetail deer in southern Illinois. As for skulls, they are ones my husband found in the woods or given to me by people who had some lying around and wanted to get rid of them.

Do you really make your items yourself?

Yes! At my shop you are getting a 100% handmade/hand painted product by me, or in conjunction with a production partner who takes my designs and prints them using their equipment.
