I love the art work, the selected text and the material used. The card design is so beautifully done. I believe my family and friends will love these hand crafted cards. I will definitely be buying more items from ChocolateInkDesigns!

We love our shirts! Super soft and a beautiful color. I bought one for me and one for my daughter. We wear them all the time.

About

Imagine. Illustrate. Inspire.

Hey y'all - I'm Bethaney. Welcome to my home here on Etsy! I hope you’ll find something while browsing through my creations that will encourage your heart and bring a smile to your face.

So first off, I often get asked if my work is free handed and how I execute my creations. Most people mistakenly think that my graphics and artwork are digitally executed or computer generated.
They're not.
I start off with an idea and a sheet of tagboard. Then, I pencil in my concept and build upon the rough layout until I have the design perfected (I go through quite a few erasers during this step ;). After the sketch is completed, I use non-fade archival ink to finish off the image. More erasing follows. I only use a computer at the very end of the process to scan the finished artwork and remove any smudges that may have happened to find my paper - and any especially stubborn pencil lines.

Why all the steps and trouble when I could easily create similar images with a computer program? Because I firmly believe that images which are hand drawn and hand lettered carry with them a sense of the love, thoughtfulness, and passion that went into their creation. Much more emotion, heart, and personality than any computer could ever generate. (Plus, I hate being stuck inside a box, creatively speaking. And when you have a blank piece of paper in front of you, and a pen in your hand - the possibilities are endless!)

So how did I get started? As far back as I can remember, three of my favorite little things in life have been sweet tea, chocolate & drawing - if I ever have a pen and paper, you can guarantee I’ll be doodling. I have always found a sense of joy in getting lost in my creations and I love pouring my heart into them. Life has definitely been an adventure – growing up with 10 siblings has enabled me to celebrate the many joys of everyday life, and learn how to face the difficult times, as well. Through the years and challenges and changes, I have found God forever faithful. His Word has been such an encouragement to my heart, and this is what first inspired me to start creating cards for my extended family and church family.

Since I graduated from my home education, I have been blessed with several opportunities to put my passion for design and creating to good use. From hand lettering work at local restaurants to creating custom signs for shops and beach houses, to t shirt designing commissions, to dreaming up and executing graphics for several weddings. My work has been featured/included in a couple of magazines, and I have enjoyed every chance to dabble in chalk, paint, pencil, and ink.

Custom orders and projects still excite me – I always enjoy the challenge of bringing other's expectations to life, and the way in which it pushes me to develop my creativity and advance my talents. When ideas and inspiration strike, you can find me sketching in my own little corner of the universe (aka, my desk), sipping on some iced sweet tea with a messy head of curly hair.

I couldn't do any of this without the never ending grace of my Heavenly Father, a well-stocked cabinet of Derwent LineMakers, Staedler white erasers, a handful of my favorite CD's, and the love and support of my family and friends.
Thanks for taking time to drop by!
