Allan Chow's electrifying still lives are far from being still. Heavily layered with paint, his spontaneous and expressive paint strokes brings his subject matter to life with much energy, emotion and three dimensional attributes. Allan’s methodology with this body
of work is improvisational painting. Intuitively bold and expressive, his subjective expressions and inner experiences are expressed through his creative process.

Allan intentionally use generic and straight forward titles in order to preserve the mystery and meaning of each still life, allowing the paint, color and design speak for itself and leaving room for stories and experiences told through the imaginations of his audiences. Allan hopes that you enjoy each of his unique and exuberant interpretations and designs.

What is a palette knife?
Palette knife is a blunt tool with a flexible steel blade used for mixing or applying paint. Best used to manipulate thicker paint, textures of many kind are created with specific parts of the knife’s blade.

What is impasto?
Impasto is an Art term used to describe a thickly textured application of paint. Artists often used an impasto technique to create expressive and/or a three-dimensional paint strokes.
