About CGJ

Jewelry design is my life long passion. I can still remember how I felt designing my first beaded necklace during a class my Mom signed us up for when I was about 14. Creating jewelry from that point on became a big part of my life and later when I studied metalsmithing at MICA a true obsession began.

My craft is my solace, it brings me an abundance of peace, happiness and adorning others is great joy to me.

My current collections are Moonflower, Flora, Fauna, Antiquarian and Pure Noir and I invite you to please read how my inspirations for each has evolved.

Moonflower:
My Mom introduced me to the magnificent Moonflower, which blooms along her garden fence in the night. I identified with the flower that, like me, hits its creative peak in the dark of night.

The Moonflower collection was born shortly after my son, Marcus, which necessitated my creative process commence after his bed time. This collection is created specifically with cold connections, wire, chain and often vintage parts. All things that can be done without the use of saws, hammers or loud buffing wheels, which might wake my sleeping family.

The color schemes I encounter during my weekend outdoor adventures with my husband and our son inspire the Moonflower palette--peridot green from the moss colored forest floor of the Catoctin Mountains, shades of shifting turquoise in metal barn roofs. The Moonflower Collection celebrates nature, family and the conscious night.

Flora:
The splendor and wonderment of nature come to life in the Flora collection. The delicate intricacies of each flower are captured in oxidized sterling silver and embellished with semi precious stones. The history and folklore of the flora add another dimension of richness to each piece. In mythology, “Flora” is the Goddess of Flowers. The precious pieces in the Flora line will help bring us closer to the nature goddess in each of us.

Fauna:
Inspired by the animal life around me, the Fauna collection conjures up the myths and folklore of coveted childhood memories spent exploring the hillsides and woods of the country. This sweet line is given a slightly harder edge by the oxidized sterling silver used to create these iconic woodland creatures.

Antiquarian:
Reflecting the past, the Antiquarian collection includes anything from vintage chain, antique buttons, to beads and skeleton keys. Naturally oxidized by time, these re-purposed materials are combined with oxidized sterling silver to reveal modern vintage jewelry. Each piece is unique and often one-of-a kind.

Pure Noir:
In celebration of the avante garde, rebellious spirits and rock and roll I bring you Pure Noir. This line, which includes layered chains, chain mail, vintage and sterling silver, upholds the delicate balance of femininity and edge.
