Guardians and Saints of the Natural World, an Intersection of the Natural and Spiritual Worlds, becoming Symbols of Solidarity between Human beings, Nature, Animals and the Divine. Images that reach back into time yet are relevant in our Modern World of environmental pressures upon the landscape and the Animal Kingdoms. Icons that reflect the world we live in now.
Water, the basis of all Life, often finds itself intertwined in my imagery. Queen of the Sea and the Otter Saint, or Our Lady of Sacred Waters are a couple of examples. Water is part of our Sacred Landscape that we have inherited. So too are the Animals we share this Earth with. Both are integral to our survival.
My desire in my art is to encourage the thought that we do live on a beautiful, mysterious Planet whose beings have connections to the land going back millions and millions of years, and that this is a Sacred Place.
If the original Icon makers from thousands of years ago had been living under such environmental pressures, I am sure they would have created Our Lady as the Divine Protectress of Creatures Great and Small too.
I offer traditional Catholic Icons, Mystical Divine Mother, Sacred Animals, and Symbols on Highly Decorative Wood and Masonite collage and are in the spirit of Retablos and Milagros from New Mexico and are priced $30-54. Free US shipping.

5 out of 5 starsThis little deer is so dear...my grandchildren, who are charmed by the deer that come to nibble our windfall apples, say that this creature looks just like one of them (plus its visible halo of course). The website images of Christina's icons are good, but these are even more wonderful than I expected.

ALWAYS AN ARTIST
Busy, busy, bush drawing Donald Duck or Cinderella's new ball gown as a child. Fast forward to a drawing class at university, a close up portrait of one of my fellow students. As the figure emerged on the paper, the life force and very essence of this fellow appeared. It was like a lightning bolt had struck me. I had never experienced a drawing coming to life.
It is this life force that I search for and try to imbue in my art/Icons. As an example, "Heavenly Mother of the Honeybee" is one of my most profound creations, as She took on a life of her own, beyond that which I had planned. It is a most mysterious and complex aspect of an artist's creation. One that cannot be taught or contrived.
I first signed up with Etsy in 2009 but soon lost interest when I did not sell that much and let my site "Deactivate".
By 2013 I had heard so many success stories about Etsy that I renewed my listings (which were still there on Etsy) and added some effort and have been pleased ever since.
Not only is Etsy a source of revenue for me as a painter, it is also a place where I can see other great painters and their art. Love all my fellow painters, my favorite of all artists, and the rich world of 2D art on Etsy.

I was never anything but an artist. It has defined all my years. The mystical connection in creating a work of art is so incredible that it becomes the very essence of Life. My connection with nature is my Muse. She is the Mystery & the Answer.
