Announcement    Guardians and Saints of the Natural World, an Intersection of the Natural and Spiritual Worlds, becoming Symbols of Solidarity between Human beings, Nature, Animals and the Divine. Images that reach back into time yet are relevant in our Modern World of environmental pressures upon the landscape and the Animal Kingdoms. Icons that reflect the world we live in now.
Water, the basis of all Life, often finds itself intertwined in my imagery. Queen of the Sea and the Otter Saint, or Our Lady of Sacred Waters are a couple of examples. Water is part of our Sacred Landscape that we have inherited. So too are the Animals we share this Earth with. Both are integral to our survival.
My desire in my art is to encourage the thought that we do live on a beautiful, mysterious Planet whose beings have connections to the land going back millions and millions of years, and that this is a Sacred Place.
If the original Icon makers from thousands of years ago had been living under such environmental pressures, I am sure they would have created Our Lady as the Divine Protectress of Creatures Great and Small too.
I offer traditional Catholic Icons, Mystical Divine Mother, Sacred Animals, and Symbols on Highly Decorative Wood and Masonite collage and are in the spirit of Retablos and Milagros from New Mexico and are priced $30-54. Free US shipping.
