Fantastic time working with the designer to customize this logo - my requests were heard and quickly turned into this lovely product! Conversations were great and timely - will definitely return for more designs in the future!

Just beautiful! We had trouble convincing my niece to leave it on the tree as she wanted to have it with her at all times! Thank you!

Gorgeous Doctor Who Tardis ornament! The artist was also willing to help me out when my order got stuck in postal limbo even though it was not her fault at all.

The original tiger drawing hanging in my studio. A framed print will look fantastic too!

About

I love color!

I love my technology. Mac laptop. Scanner. Epson printer. At times they seem out of place sitting in the sunroom, surrounded by woods in rural Alabama. Looking out the window, you would never guess I'm just a short drive to NASA. But I guess deep down I'm really a simple girl. I wanted paint. And color pencil. And to make REAL art. With LOTS of color.

My art focuses on color and humanity’s relationship with nature. From exquisite details found in fur and flowers to how nature overcomes the man-made, I use color to draw attention to aspects of the natural world that people often overlook in today’s crazy rat race. By focusing so close on the subject, sometimes to the point that it almost abstract, the viewer becomes engaged with the piece as they try and figure out what they are looking at. They know the subject is comfortable and familiar, yet the viewpoint offers them something unexpected. Color allows me to bring meaning to a piece in a very subjective way, and draw attention to details and nuances that we miss in our hectic lives.

Each piece requires extensive planning to achieve simplicity of form and the strong positive and negative spaces. I work from my own reference photos and experiment with cropping the photos in Photoshop before I even begin the initial drawing. I create a fairly detailed line drawing on paper or canvas, and then the fun begins – color! I want the color to be intense and powerful. I use it to lead people to details they often miss in “real life”. Color is emotional for people, and I explore how the interplay of colors can augment emotion and connect people to the form. There’s no deep, hidden meaning behind my work. I capture the beauty of nature with simplified forms, striking details, and intense colors.

I have a studio in Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment, the largest privately owned Arts Center in the United States, located in Huntsville, AL. I offer graphic design and web services focusing primarily on small businesses, classes for children and adults in art basics, acrylics, and colored pencils, and I'm always happy to create pet portraits or other commissioned art pieces for patrons. My work has been included in various publications including Strokes of Genius 6, Colored Pencil Cats & Dogs, “Colored Pencil Magazine,” and “Ann Kullberg’s Color! A Colored Pencil Magazine.”

I have freelanced for almost 15 years as a graphic designer and web designer/programmer. Part of the week I work from home - usually in my PJs for most of the morning. Part of the week I work in my studio at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment. I don't function without coffee and most of my clients know not to call too early...unless it is an emergency.

I’m a bit of a geek too. My love of sci-fi is at times reflected in my work, and I have become a “retro fanatic,” turning my home into something out of the 60’s…sputnik light and all! I live in Gurley, Alabama with my husband, two boys and six cats. The cats are all named after cheese. My kids are part of the equation – part of why I make art. I want them to see creativity, experience it and believe in it. No matter what they grow up to be, I'm sure a well developed imagination will serve them well.
