Announcement   Sorry I have gone missing! I am in the process of moving the whole family to Charleston, South Carolina from Vermont. Our house is on the market, my husband has a new job, and we are packing up! I am currently taking a break from sewing and pattern making, and that could last all year, depending. I will update when I am back in the swing of it. Hope you all have a great summer! A FREE mini rat pattern/tutorial from me when you sign up for my newsletter. It is 24 pages of detailed photos and instructions, along with the pattern. If you would like to sign up http://eepurl.com/bQMKKL

Frequent updates https://www.facebook.com/CindySowersArt/

I consider costuming an art, and have been designing and making costumes in miniature and full scale for most of my life. At this point in my career I am interested in conveying what I know and have expertise in to others via patterns and tutorials, as well as making some OOAK dresses for Blythe dolls to offer you. Each of my tutorials is a detailed photo-rich step by step lesson in exactly what I do to make the item in the photograph. I will often offer you links to my suppliers, ways to achieve the style that I have developed over years, short-cuts, etc. Tutorials include a PDF for a pattern designed and drafted by me that you will print out, as well as listing of materials and tools, and every instruction you will need to complete the item. My physical handmade items for sale at this point are things I have made in the process of making a tutorial, or things I have wanted to make for fun.

The pattern is easy to print and fairly easy to follow. Cindy gives you a lot of good information in her directions. The dress is so cute too. I will be honest in that I have not made the dress yet. The only things I would suggest to Cindy would be putting the bralette top in a separate pdf file so you could easily just print that. Also, and more importantly, there is no scale bar on the bralette pattern, so you can't be sure it is printing to scale. Other than that, so far great pattern, and I gave it 5 stars.

About

Pattern and Tutorial Shop for Blythe Lovers Who Sew

I have been designing and sewing clothes for dolls and people since 1974!! I was a professional milliner in the early 1990s, a professional quilt artist from about 1994 to 2000. I have been a professional doll artist since 2001. I was a cloth doll artist for 10 years. I had my work shown in galleries and in magazines for many years. Later I discovered Blythe dolls and began customizing plastic dolls. In 2010 I decided to offer items for other peoples' dolls. First it was hats for dolls of all sizes. In 2012 I began offering designer clothing specifically for Blythe dolls. I have been designing and selling doll clothing and dolls full time since then. Beginning 2016, I moved from selling collections of my clothing items to designing patterns and tutorials that will teach you how to make what I have dreamed up in the past and will dream up in the future. If you like to sew, my tutorials are like sewing along with me. I show you step by step via words and photos exactly what I do to start and complete each piece.

My fashion design background comes from having learned to sew at age 11 or 12. I took advanced sewing classes in high school. I attended the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles to study Fashion Design in my 20s. I also took a year's training in millinery (human) from Wayne Wichern in Seattle. I have been in business for myself since the early 1990s, doing what I love.

Shop policies

Thank you for stopping by! Below you will find some important information about my payment, shipping and return and other important info and policies.

All of my patterns are designed and written by me. Copyright of the written information, photos and patterns is retained by me. Upon purchase of pattern/tutorial, you may make this outfit for yourself, to give away, or to sell, but you may not sell or distribute my copyrighted pattern or tutorial. If you sell your handmade items made from my patterns, please give credit to me as the pattern designer, Cindy Sowers and add a link to my shop http://www.cindysowers.etsy.com Mass production prohibited.

All physical items are designed and constructed by me. I use high quality materials for everything I do. All items are constructed individually one at a time, by me. In all cases, my items are not intended for children, but are meant for adult collectors. Although I construct things to be sturdy, often things will have small parts that would not be suitable for children.

***When purchasing doll clothing items, be aware that dolls made from vinyl, plastic, resin, etc. may stain easily. Some synthetic materials stain more easily than others. With Blythe dolls, the legs are the most vulnerable. My hand-dyed items are laundered and I use color retaining products to aid in colorfasting, but unless clothing items are white or very light colors, I recommend using light colored tights or other protective cover on dolls when using clothing any color darker than white on your dolls. Nothing I make is guaranteed to be 100% colorfast. Fabrics and dyes are meant for safety on human skin. There is no colorant for clothing that is meant specifically to be worn against vinyl, plastic or resin. Plastic, resins and vinyl, etc., do not behave like human skin. They seem to draw color out of colored fabric products to attach to the doll. No matter what color retaining products are used. some colors will tend to bleed out over time, whether dyed at home or dyed commercially. In addition, do not leave dyed or non-white clothing on dolls for extended periods. No matter how a fabric is treated, Blythe dolls and other plastic/vinyl/resin dolls are likely to soak up dye and stain over time. Generally speaking, benzoyl peroxide (zit cream) seems to get the stains out on stained blythe doll bodies, but it takes time and sometimes repeated applications. Warmth (not to melting obviously) from sunlight seems to quicken the procedure. Up to a month (one application a week for a month of benzoyl peroxide) in some cases may be needed to remove stains. Please use caution. I cannot be responsible for what you do or do not do to your dolls.

You're a Doll!

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
I accept every major credit card via PayPal and Etsy's direct checkout. Even if you do not have a PayPal account you can pay for your purchase through the site with a credit card. I will also accept a money order. I will not ship until I receive payment in full.

I no longer accept layaway or extended payment plans. I accept payment through etsy via major credit cards, as well as Paypal and cashier's check.
Shipping
I am now using Etsy shipping labels and all packages will be insured via U-PIC insurance services. Shipping within the United States will be USPS First Class with tracking. It is unlikely an item will be lost, but occasionally packages take longer than anticipated. If an item is truly lost, please notify me so that I can file a U-PIC claim. Items cannot be replaced, as they are virtually all OOAK, but lost items will be refunded via U-PIC insurance.

First Class within the USA takes up to 10 days for delivery according to the post office, but my experience has been that things arrive within 5 days in the Continental US. If you want your item more quickly, convo me and I will add extra shipping costs to your purchase and will ship Priority or whatever you require.

For International packages, I am now using Etsy shipping labels and all packages will now be insured via U-PIC insurance services. Items cannot be replaced, as they are virtually all OOAK, but lost items will be refunded via U-PIC insurance. Please contact me in a timely manner if a package is lost.

***PLEASE NOTE: For International packages the EXACT VALUE of contents will be marked on the customs form as required, which is automatically entered via Etsy shipping labels. Please do not ask me to mark down value of the package or mark as a gift, as label will say merchandise and exact value of contents within. Please be aware that International shipments may be subject to customs fees and tariffs that are not covered in my shipping estimates and are the responsibility of the buyer. I am not aware what the duties are for each country, but some are quite high. Please keep this in mind that there may be additional charges by your country upon delivery, when making purchases.

It is unlikely that an item will be lost in the mail, but it is possible that delays will happen with international mail. Once the item is mailed by me, I cannot control when it is received by you.

Email notification will be sent to you when your order has been shipped.

Please ensure your mailing address with Etsy is correct - I use Etsy to create shipping labels.

According to my post office I cannot track International First Class packages except to Canada at this time. However, with some countries it appears the number on the customs form will track, but it has been more or less random as far as I can tell.

Please convo me if you would like your order shipped via a different method (additional shipping charges may apply and will be calculated based on actual shipping costs).
Refunds and Exchanges
I want you to be happy with your purchase and therefore strive to do work of the highest quality. All sales are final and I cannot offer refunds or exchanges. If you have any questions about an item, please feel free to convo me before purchasing! I am happy to answer questions.
Additional policies and FAQs
My handmade items are not intended for small children. Though they are quite sturdy and I take great care in constructing them, they are strictly ornamental and not meant for rough play, so please keep that in mind when purchasing. Thank you!
