Announcement   Cipolla items are handcrafted here in Toronto by a pair of hands (mine!) which have been sewing--for survival and for fun--for 15 years and counting.

Function and aesthetics inspire the items, and I often repurpose fabric/notions because there's already a lot out in the world.

I'm happiest when my hands are busy and feel at home when I'm sitting at a sewing machine, so thank-you for your interest and support--enabling me to keep chugging along contentedly ;)

About

nonno is grandfather in Italian ;)

My nonno was a great tailor who worked for the man during the day and for his family and friends at night in the basement. He was happy when fabric was in his hands, and he was certainly proud of his craft. He went to his grave without ever revealing his secret for easing the shoulder of a suit jacket so effortlessly. Besides making almost everything we ate from scratch, my nonna also found time to hand stitch lapels. My mother hasn't yet discouraged a single idea I've had in 35+ years, and my father’s hard-working hands continue to inspire mine. These are my makers. So I like to think I’ve got threads, possibilities, and labour in the bones. xo

I'm practical, yet sentimental... I adore little details, but also purpose... my mind wanders... when I sit at a sewing machine I breathe a sigh of relief... I don't like screens but I also don't like bosses... from this grew Cipolla!
