My newest vow in life is to BUY HAND-MADE! I wish everything I "needed" in life could be hand-made. The artisan who is creating the item, cares about their medium, and will happily be held accountable for any dissatisfaction. These days that is worth the extra you might pay, for the hand-made quality you will be getting.

About

The passion for glass handed down from my Mom

I created the name Cityfreeglass, because I moved from a town of over one million people, to a large state that does not even have a million people residing within it.

Thank you, Mom, for giving me a beginners stained glass kit in 2002!

I work from morning til night from a tiny room in my humble home and from there I have had the opportunity to create some amazing pieces and work with some incredible people. My pieces can be found all over the U.S. and Abroad. Some pieces can even been seen on television!

The process starts with a single sheet of glass and a pattern.
The pattern is traced onto the glass and then scored with a hand-held glass scorer. This does not "cut" the glass, but separates the molecules making the glass break free following the scoreline. I break the pieces free using a few types of pliers.
The pieces are then ground smooth using a diamond head bit, or lap wheel, until the pieces fit together perfectly.
I foil the edges of each piece of glass with sticky backed copper foil (usually 7/32" wide). The solder only sticks to the copper foil, not to the glass.
Then comes soldering the puzzle together. It's all about the solder lines!.....they should be raised and fluid (no pits or bumps). I can't always get them perfect, just pretty close :)
Finally, several major cleanings. A patina may be applied to create a copper or black solder line (silver is it's natural state). Then a coating of finishing compound, giving the glass and solder lines a sheen.
If the project is framed, I always tape off the window and paint and seal the frame. Sometimes an artist will spend 30 hours on an awesome piece and then leave the frame stained and dull. Make sure your artist goes all the way with their professional commitment!

One more thing.....if you are purchasing a sun catcher please make sure that the loop it will be hanging from is soldered deep into another solder line. If it is soldered just by the copper foil lining, when the sun catcher gets hot the glue will pull apart from the glass. I learned the hard way and it drives me crazy when I see the mistake in practice.

Stained glass will last many decades if taken care of. Indoors, or out, the color will never fade! Some hand made glass sheets can be $45.00 for an 8" x 8" piece! (I have never been brave enough to use it).

Please email me with any questions! As you can see, I am happy to chat.

I fall in love with glass more and more every day. I will work with Stained glass until my hands will not allow me. The custom process is especially wonderful because I get to work one-on-one with so many friendly people.

Shipping
Ships using your Etsy provided shipping address.
ALL ITEMS ARE INSURED.
SHIPPING IS COMBINED when applicable.
You will receive a tracking link through Etsy email once your package is shipped.

SHIPPING FEES ARE NOT REFUNDED IF RETURNING AN ITEM.

Shipping for a small box is $6.00 (+ $4 each additional item, making it a large box.) Shipping for a larger box is $10.00 (+$1 each additional item).

For windows, I use a flat rate to guesstimate shipping. Any overpaid shipping is promptly refunded.

I must apologize. AFTER MANY YEARS, I NO LONGER SHIP OVERSEAS, or to CANADA. I have encountered too many heartaches with USPS tracking issues, time delays and tax fee confusion and disappointment.

Most items ship USPS Priority. Large windows may be shipped UPS. Mini envelopes are first class.

ALL ITEMS ARE INSURED.

I live in the middle of nowhere Wyoming and am sometimes snowed in. I do my very best to ship on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. I will let you know if there will be a delay.

STAINED GLASS WINDOWS AND ADDRESS PLAQUES WILL NOW REQUIRE A SIGNATURE UPON DELIVERY.
I apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause....it is a necessary step in order to cover both of us.

If delivery is attempted and no one is home, you will need to re-schedule within 14 days. You may arrange re-delivery by visiting http://www.usps.com/redelivery or calling 800-ASK-USPS
Refunds and Exchanges
If your glass is broken a claim will need to be filed. Claims are done electronically to ease the process. "Shipsurance" insurance is the company used.

The item will need to be packaged back up, with the exact packaging and materials (USPS may require the item returned to them).

Once I receive a copy of the signed claim ticket, a replacement piece will be made for you right away.

If you are not 100% satisfied with your glass, I am happy to remedy the issue in every way. Just let me know your thoughts!

Constructive criticism is always welcomed.
