About

Coastal Inspired Handmade Jewelry

My journey with jewelry started when I was young. I can remember making friendship bracelets, wire bracelets from wire that I got from my dad's work truck (he worked for a telephone company), and seed bead necklaces. I did not make too much jewelry as an adult, until I found myself laid off from my job. I now see this as a blessing in disguise - I would not have been able to get back into it like I have now! I started out beading, like many people do. I loved beading, but I wanted to learn more, so I took Metals classes at the community college in our town. Through the classes and lots of trial and error, I am able to make the pieces I am today! While I still love to add beads to accent certain pieces, I mostly enamel and make pieces using metalsmithing techniques.

I like to focus on color. In the majority of my pieces, I always start with trying to figure out how to best accent the color of each piece, whether it is a piece of sea glass, a pretty stone, or an enamel color. Lately I have been combining enamel with sea glass and stones. I love contrasting the stones with enamel!

All of my metal jewelry is hand sawn, hand stamped, and hand finished - I do not use pre-made blanks on any of my pieces. I can also do custom pieces beyond what I have shown here in my shop. See my Facebook page (facebook.com/cjsseahop) to see some of the pieces I have done for others. Yours could end up in the Custom Orders album as well!

I am happy to be able to share something I enjoy very much - so enjoy yourself while having a look around my shop!

Payment
I accept Paypal, or Credit Cards and Etsy Gift Cards through Direct Checkout via Etsy. Please note that Etsy does not allow any seller to see any credit card information (just as Paypal does not).

Please make your payment immediately on any items that are in your cart. Etsy does not allow items to "hold" in your cart, so until you pay for them, they will not leave my shop, and it allows for someone else to purchase them in the meantime.
Shipping
Each piece of jewelry will come in a gift box. Gift wrap is available upon request. Please indicate what event (Birthday, Christmas, etc.) in the notes to seller.

For ready to ship items, I will ship within 2 business days (not including weekends) of payment using First Class Mail. Made to order and custom orders can take between 1-2 weeks. If you need faster shipping, please let me know before purchase so I can adjust the shipping for you.

For made to order/custom orders, please allow 1-2 weeks turnaround time.

Make sure your address with Etsy is correct. I am unable to replace an item that is lost due to an incorrect address.

For International orders, I ship First Class on the majority of my pieces to get the best shipping rates. For pieces over $55, I ship USPS Priority Mail, which comes with insurance. If you would like for me to ship anything First Class to save on shipping, please contact me so I can adjust the shipping. If you are ordering more than 3 items, please contact me before ordering to see if all of the pieces will fit into one large envelope. If the entire order does not fit into a large envelope, the upgrade to Priority Shipping will be necessary. Some items may need to be combined in gift boxes to make certain orders work as well. *Any taxes or tariffs that may be due will be the responsibility of the buyer. I will not change the value of the item purchased, or enter it as a gift.*

Please keep in mind that shipping costs cover much more than postage. It covers all packaging as well. Most of the time, I do not break even on what I charge for shipping. I usually lose a little bit.
Refunds and Exchanges
I go to great lengths to provide accurate measurements of each piece that I list. Etsy does a wonderful job of showing large pictures of each listing to show the detail of each piece. This can make a piece feel larger than it is - for this reason I take a picture of each with a penny to provide a sense of scale to each piece. Please take the time to read each listing and go through each picture I have provided. If you have any other questions or would like additional pictures, I will be glad to provide them for you. Since I take all of these measures, I will not accept returns for items due to size perception.

If an item arrives damaged, or if a problem arises with any of my pieces, please let me know as soon as possible. I will do what works best for you, whether through repair, replacement, or refund.

All sales are final.
Additional policies and FAQs
Coupon Codes - Coupon codes must be used at time of purchase at checkout, and may not be used on Custom Orders.

A note about hand stamping - Hand stamping is the process of striking a steel stamp with a design on it onto a piece of metal. The letters will not be perfectly straight, like an engraving machine would make. To me, this adds to the character of the piece.

Custom Orders - I love to do custom orders! If you have an idea from something you have seen in my shop, convo me and let's put our heads together!

I also welcome orders for multiples such as bridesmaids sets. I will work with the buyer on color, quantity, etc. to get the order just right. This may involve asking for a sample of the color sent to me, and I am more than happy to send a color sample for approval as well.

Since it takes me the same amount of time to create each piece, regardless of how many are ordered, I do not offer discounts on multiple orders. I try to price my pieces fairly based on time and materials up front.

Custom orders will take a bit more turn around time than regular orders. It could take up to 2-3 weeks for each order (though typically never this long) depending on if I have to place an order for supplies, how many items are in each order, and how many orders I am already working on. I do require payment before I will begin any custom order. There will be clear and prompt communication through each step of the process. I also like to take and send pictures of where I am in the process.

On larger orders with multiple pieces, I will combine shipping to a flat rate to save shipping for the buyer.

All custom orders are final sale.

If you have any ideas or questions, just convo me! Let's get something started!

Care:
Copper - When buying copper please keep in mind that it ages beautifully over time, gaining a wonderful patina, especially if handled frequently. I do not seal my copper pieces for this reason. If you have any questions about copper, or would like for me to recommend a polishing pad (for those who love shiny copper), feel free to reach out to me. If you mix a little table salt with white vinegar and dip your copper pieces in, it will remove the oxidation. Make sure you rinse well and wipe with a soft cloth. If you have hard water, I recommend rinsing with bottled water.

Brass - As with copper, I do not seal my brass pieces. It will also change color or patina. If you mix a little table salt with white vinegar and dip your brass pieces in, it will remove the oxidation. Make sure you rinse well and wipe with a soft cloth. If you have hard water, I recommend rinsing with bottled water.

Sterling Silver - I use raw silver, which may require a little more maintenance than a sterling silver piece that you purchase from a company, since there are sealants that are used in the manufacturing process. I recommend polishing from time to time with a jewelry polishing cloth, and avoid swimming or sleeping in your jewelry.

Enamel - Enamel is powdered glass that is fused to metal (usually copper) in a 1500° kiln. While it is pretty durable, it is still glass, so take care to not drop or hit your jewelry against anything, or bend the metal underneath. It may crack or break.
