About

A Love Affair with Color

My interest in fused glass began as a casual affair during the spring of 2006. Multicolored glass in a shop window caught my eye as I jogged by early in the morning. You might say it was love at first sight!

The seemingly endless colors of raw glass for sale at this store, Blue Heron Glass, enchanted me. The shop offered classes on making fused glass plates and pendants, so I signed up for a couple. I was instantly hooked!

I realized I could create pendant necklaces to accessorize my colorful wardrobe. Fused glass became the perfect marriage of my passion for color and my burning desire to always have the perfect accessory for any outfit.

Soon I found myself creating and baking batches of fused glass pendants in the store's kiln and booking extra studio time for my newfound love. Excited by my handcrafted jewelry, I shared a few with family and close friends. It wasn't long before the hobby became a small business as friends of friends, co-workers, and neighbors were gobbling up my pendants and plates at home shows.

When someone said my glass looked good enough to eat, the "yummies" brand was born. Since I started CJ Yummies in 2006, I have created and sold hundreds of yummies.

Prior to the birth of CJ Yummies, I enjoyed a long career in public relations. In 1985 when big-do's were the thing and "dress for success" was my mantra, I graduated from University of Georgia with a journalism degree. After graduation I lived in Atlanta and worked at a few advertising agencies and PR firms before I settled down in Charleston, SC, with my husband, a native Charlestonian. For over a decade I coordinated public relations for Drayton Hall, a historic 18th century plantation house in Charleston. I did a little consulting work following Drayton Hall, all the while doing the power-mom dance of juggling our family of four and a career, which was anything but 9-5.

Now the CJ Yummies collection includes a range of jewelry items, home decor pieces, and accessories, all in delicious, mouth-watering colors. Yummies can be found in personal collections in United States, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Europe, Brazil, and the Middle East. Follow CJyummies on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest.

I am so happy to have found a way to share my love for color with the world. I hope my art brightens your day and leaves a smile on your face.
Enjoy!
