This was a lovely present for my girlfriend's birthday and she's worn it a lot ever since :) Wonderful value, great packaging and very efficient delivery, money well spent x
Friendship Bracelets to a Masters in Design Craft, do what you love!
In 2010 at the age of 19 I finally decided that I wanted the cool bracelets that everyone was wearing 10 years earlier! With the help of YouTube I learnt how to make Friendship Bracelets and suddenly I had hundreds of them and it's not as cool to wear them as you turn 20... apparently.
I then moved from the Isle of Wight to a small farming village south of Lincoln where the internet was pants and I had nothing to do, so I decided to start my own business and branch out from Friendship Bracelets to working with wire, what's the worst that could happen? Paperwork is the answer to that.
I did quite well considering I had no experience and would really recommend just 'giving it a go' when you really feel passionate about something. Thankfully I had someone to drive me places and I took part in fayres/fairs and markets across the county.
At the start of 2011 I decided I wanted to study this profession, study Silversmithing or Goldsmithing, or specialise in a material - I loved the idea of glass - and with my measly UCAS points I applied to many Universitys, the foundation degrees of course.
The Government elected in 2010 had just taken hold, and budget cuts to Universitys across the United Kingdom were in full force, the foundation degrees of the Universitys that I had applied to were now cancelled.
I tried again in 2012 and ended up studying a foundation degree in Three Dimensional Design, I still loved the idea of silversmithing and specialised in Jewellery there and even taught Copper working workshops to lower years.
Which material did I end up working in the most? Paper.
With my Foundation Degree in hand I decided now that I finally had enough UCAS points to go and study Silversmithing! But I ended up at the University of Hertfordshire studying Applied Arts instead, I worked with Wood and Glass and created a collection of Contemporary Jewellery. I definitely didn't see that coming.
Now I have been accepted onto a Masters of Design Craft back at the University of Hertfordshire, and for the next two years (studying part-time) I wish to experiment more with glass, wood, textiles and other materials to create Jewellery that really reflects this journey I've undertaken.. and maybe I'll learn a bit of silversmithing along the way!
The pieces for sale in this shop are fragments of this journey, pieces of the puzzle that is me figuring out where I belong in the creative world.
I strive to make Jewellery that is of fantastic quality and is perfect for you.
