About

Art inspired by faith, mythology and the occult.

Aloha! My name is Clau and I’m a Brazilian illustrator based in Toronto, Canada.

Faith, mythology and the occult have always been subjects that attracted me. I grew up surrounded by elements that brings me the feeling that there is something else besides the material world. Signs, mysticism, religion or even the good and old superstitions - I love to know more about these themes! I think the power of faith is a fascinating feeling that every human being can develop and I like to keep objects that reminds us our true selves. A Rosary of blue stones that I carry with me since my childhood reminds me that I am capable or the small Hotei that came from Thailand always makes me smile with his simplicity. Furthermore, I can’t remember how many times I fell asleep reading stories of Brazilian myths, while in the kitchen my mother prepared a miracle tea to heal my sore throat. I never knew the ingredients and that's the magic. Nowadays, I’m fascinated by Japanese Culture and as you can see here there are one of my favorite themes: the lucky amulets!

For me, faith does not necessarily have a direct relationship to religion, but rather the sensitivity of believing in something that we cannot see with our eyes. How ironic! Because as an illustrator this is a huge challenge since my work is visual. But that's the fun part: what I feel in my heart is what I try to convey through drawing. With this in mind, what you see here is a process that involves a study of images already interpreted by so many artists, experiences and feelings of my daily and spiritual life, texts of great masters full of mystery and wisdom and my imagination, of course. You may consider this to be my great creative cauldron :D

I like to think that my creative process also has its own ritual: every illustration carries a prayer, positive thoughts that I want to come to you through my work. I believe that everything we produce carries an energy, do you?! So you can be sure that every product you see in this little store is loaded with many good feelings that I wish with all sincerity for you.

I hope you feel welcome here and please, don’t be shy - say hi!
Thanks for being here!
Lots of Love,
Namasté.

Shipping & Packaging

I ship weekly on Fridays! Orders placed by Wednesday, 8pm will ship Friday, that same week. Orders placed after Wednesday, 8pm (Canadian Timezone) will ship the following Friday.

It’s very important to me that this print gets to its final destination in perfect condition. For that reason, our envelopes have heavy boards that protect against crushing. There is no additional shipping charge for purchasing more than one item. In order to reduce waste, orders with multiple prints will be packaged in the same envelope, with protective paper between each print. If you need individual envelopes, please leave me a note at checkout.

Prints are created and packaged using acid-free professional paper. But it’s good to avoid direct sunlight to protect the work from fading. When handling the work, try to hold it by the edges of paper to minimize any damage.
