About

As luck would have it, life sat me behind the potter's wheel and as I struggled to center that lifeless lump of mud, I discovered my life's passion.

I've always had an vibrant creative spirit and twenty-one years ago life sat me behind the potter's wheel. As I struggled to center that lifeless lump of mud with clay flying far and wide, I knew what my life's passion was. Since then I have been exploring the limitless possibilities that clay as a medium has to offer.

My own journey with ceramics has been met with numerous tests and challenges. As a potter, you will fail to improve if you do not make mistakes and I have made a lot of mistakes. I've even created a few disasters along the way for good measure. Then one day, I stopped struggling on the potter's wheel and discovered that my hands could dance with the clay. And that's a great thing because my dancing skills are the equivalent to Steve Martin in "The Jerk". Yet somehow the rhythm of the wheel helps me find my beat.

For a great number of years, I dedicated myself to learning my craft by hand digging and processing thousands of pounds of native clay and producing functional ceramic wares as a potters apprentice. Thousands of hours and a multitude of disappointments later I can say with the sincerest humility that I understand clay, in fact, it's one of my best friends. So, in 2001, I founded Clay Dancer Pottery in rural rolling hills of Litchfield County Connecticut. In fact, we are so rural we have never had a trick or treater.

My quaint studio space with its cranking hot wood stove is where I spend the majority of my free time creating and exploring new forms of expression and techniques that combine texture, pattern and vibrant color through various artistic mediums.

My assistant rescue dog is on call 24/7 to lend a helping paw when I need it...in exchange for belly rubs and dog walks of course. My true helper and biggest supporter is my handyman extraordinaire husband aka Macgyver. He could build a rocket ship that would fly to the moon from spare car parts and popsicle sticks. Without him I wouldn't have shelving, a functioning electric kiln or the nifty “battery solar powered potters wheel” (say that ten times fast) that he built for me.

With all sincerity, I hope that my pots bring you as much joy as they do for me and thanks to Etsy I have a marketplace to sell my wares to individuals that support the handcrafting community. Your patronage and appreciation allows me to continue on my journey of clay exploration and living my life's passion. So to you, I offer my heartfelt gratitude.

    Owner, Creator, The Whole Enchilada!

I discovered clay in 1993 by accident. Since then I my journey has taken me to the Netherlands, the desert of New Mexico, and the rolling hills of Connecticut where I have had the blessing to work with many masters.
