I got this for my BFF of 36 years for her birthday. Leaving a review now before giving it just in case I get locked out :-). It's a milestone birthday so I had to include something from one of my very most favorite places to spend my money on ETSY. This little piece really made me think of her and she slightly resembles my friend around the eyes...the rest is very much a cartoonish version of her - ha ha. I'm super excited for her to see it and if I can, I will update this review to include her reaction.

Planters come in all shapes and sizes.

Doll head planters were born in my yard one Spring day.

While teaching high school art I was given a box of unfinished dolls that I used for still life set ups. When I retired, I brought the doll heads home and placed them in my garden for decoration. The following Spring plants were growing from the heads and that is where the idea to make planters was born. In 2003 I took horticulture classes at NMSU and started making small doll head planters to sell with my plants at a local Farmers Market. An artist at the Market told me about ETSY and I opened my shop in 2006. I listed my planters and they sold right away. Two months later, I was contacted by ETSY administration and made a featured artist in October 2007.
A customer request for a Chihuahua head planter started my hybrid line. After making the head planter I used a doll head on the dog body and the "Buppy was born.
I now experiment with different combinations using doll heads and animal bodies.
I am presently working on tiny wall dolls .
I work at home in my garage and patio along with my two dogs, a Boston and a Chihuahua.
