Each tile we offer is a one of a kind "multiple original" work of art. While our designs are repeated, no two tiles will ever be the same as they are pressed from our own hand-made artist molds and then carefully hand-carved following the impressed images from the mold to create a crisp and highly detailed original surface. The clay is fired to 1940 degrees F to harden the clay and prepare it for glaze-work. Once fired, the small sculptures are hand-washed with mineral oxide pigments and hand-painted with multiple colored glazes to enliven and enrich the designs. The final firing to 2240 degrees F melts the glazing materials and hardens the stoneware/porcelain clay, creating a very durable and colorful work of art. Our tiles come finished with cork-backing and a hanging wire.
