Photography that takes your eyes and mind close to everywhere.
Close to the eye, or Nära Ögat as it translates to swedish, is a saying that has double meanings. Except for the literal of something being close to the eye it has a more figural meaning as well. When something almost happened, when a ball swoops past your head millimeters from touching, when you miss the bus by a second, when your foot slips on the ground and you manage to keep your body upright even though it felt like you were going to fall. Then it was Close to the eye.
Capturing the beauty within unusual places and objects is the driving force behind my creativity. This idea has definitely influenced my photography. It all started on a long walk home from work - a walk that took me through the run-down parts of Gothenburg.
I saw beauty in a cracked wall and in the grey, abandoned surroundings where I saw a fallen tree and the yellow scoop of an industrial digger. I photographed everything. Sometimes the pictures showed exactly what I had seen. Sometimes my skills weren't quite enough to capture it. I worked to improve my photographs every day - something which I continue with even now. (But now I have found a way to capture what I want without having to take around a billion pictures first).
Being a jewelry designer as well forced me to learn all about photographing my work and I fell in love with the different sides of photography. The business, the technology and the art form.
Having a constant longing to express my opinion of what is beautiful and intersting I found the perfect way for that in photography.
