The alchemy of ceramics is a process, philosophy and science that has captivated me for years. My works are made by utilizing reclaimed and local clay's to make functional and sculptural art. I am influenced by the natural environment of the Pacific Northwest, which continues to inspire me. All pottery is dishwasher, microwave and food safe. All sold items will be sanitized before shipping.

About cmsceramics

Sales 73
On Etsy since 2010

Hand-made art from the soul.

I was introduced to clay in first grade and fell in love with it from the start. It seemed like a familiar material, one that I had worked with before. I had the same art teacher, Martha Starmann, all through out grade school and high school. I knew that it was something I wanted to do for a career. I went to Kalamazoo Valley Community College (Associate of Arts) , Grand Valley State University (Bachelor of Fine Arts) and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale ( Master of Fine Arts). I owned and operated my own gallery and studio in Makanda, Illinois and also in Fairfield, Iowa. I currently sell my art at Pike Place Market and teach at Seward Park Clay Studio in Seattle, Washington, where I am the studio manager.
