Thank you for visiting!

All pieces are made by my two hands using a jewellers saw, torch, hammers, & other small tools.

Each piece is slow made, thoughtfully planned & carefully brought to life.

Most pieces are one of a kind (OOAK), while a few I fall head over heels with & create one of a few (OOAF).

There may be a design I absolutely love, and will create variations of, but I do not "mass produce" or send out my pieces to be made overseas.

Tag lifestyle photos of your CKJ jewelry on IG @coastalkarmajewels to be featured!

Packaging can be re-used or recycled 🌏💚

About

My Creative Journey

I'm a daydreamer born & raised in beautiful British Columbia.

Vancouver, where I was born, I've gone back to her calling arms to reside.
Steveston, my childhood home, is where my roots were formed.

My main background is in music education, I'm armed with an ARCT, BMus & BEd. I grew up studying music (classical piano performance) since I was 4, & the constant strive to play pieces flawlessly for exams and concerts led to developing performance anxiety at a young age -creating jewelry is perfect for me as I get to work behind a bench away from the spotlight. I'm a wallflower/hermit at heart and love to spend time playing with rocks and minerals, silver and gold.

With side-effects of a classical pianist (I'm a little bit of a perfectionist), having the creative freedom to make & create jewelry teaches me to allow things to unfold naturally, to appreciate organic designs, & throw out all the rules to remind myself that what I might view as 'wrong' can often lead to beautiful surprises, it's all part of the design process.

A self-driven passion to experience all art forms, I started my goldsmithing journey in 2015 with Kelly Allanson, and have also loved the informative and skill-building workshops with Robyn Cornelius. Ron Vauthrin has also been a wonderful mentor, along with Verena Strigler.

2016, I started my journey in lapidary arts with Geoff Cameron and immediately found peace with cabbing natural stones. Even more exciting when I find the material myself!

All my pieces are made by my hands in a little zen crafting cave in Vancouver, BC. Prayer flags gently sway by the open window, beautiful locally handmade stained glass feathers dangle by the door (Suncatcher Crafts in Lytton, BC), a vintage chest holds local driftwood & other craft supplies; I'm surrounded by crystals, gemstones, & other inspirational pieces that bring feelings of serenity, & reminders of my global travels that bring a smile to my face so the same positive feelings are put into what I make.

I love incorporating natural stones into my pieces made with precious metals, while continually exploring texture, movement, depth & connection.

💛

Frequently asked questions

Taking Care of Your Jewelry

Please take care of jewelry when worn to avoid potential snags on delicate clothing.

Take care when wearing pieces with stones, especially rings. The nature of stones is if they are struck or hit on a certain angle, the stone may crack, fracture, or even shatter (all depends on the individual stone structure).

Jewelry should be the last thing on & the first thing off.
Do not wear jewelry ... to garden, do dishes, swim, workout ...etc. Chemicals will harm jewelry.

Custom Orders

Currently, I am not taking custom orders.

Why Is My Silver Jewelry Turning Black?

Silver will tarnish over time, especially Sterling Silver.

Store away from open air, & humid areas (like the bathroom).
When not in use, keep in separate cloth bags, in jewelry box, etc

Some pieces are meant to be oxidized to create depth & contrast. Tarnish, or oxidization, of silver is an organic process.

If you prefer the traditional shiny silver polish, consider using a polishing cloth to remove tarnish.

**DO NOT USE tarnish remover on natural stones!**
