I come from a large family of gift-givers. We enthusiastically celebrate every birthday, special event and holiday over lots of food and gifts (did I mention lots of food???) As the family grows, each member has become quite creative in making handmade gifts that are both meaningful and affordable.

One anniversary as a gift to my husband, I drew him a portrait of the first home we shared together. Seeing how much it meant to him, I began drawing home portraits for friends and family. Before long, friends were asking me to draw portraits for them to give as gifts.

It turns out that many people are very sentimental about where they live (or have lived), I know I am. Each portrait took on a different meaning for the recipient. My best friend gifted her parents a drawing of every house they have ever shared throughout their marriage. Another friend gave a portrait as a house-warming gift to the young couple who bought her house. One was a portrait of a man's childhood home given to him by his wife for Valentine's Day. The portraits either show where you have been or where you are going, which makes them so versatile! They are perfect as a housewarming gift, or given for an anniversary, birthday or Christmas.

My drawing style is whimsical. If you are looking for a drawn to scale, blue-print type of depiction of your home, I am not your girl.
